• Just wanted to know if this is right. In our first game the Russians decided to attack the Mongolians (strict neutral) to claim the territories with IPC values. I know the Russians can attack a strict neutral not in Europe at any time (like Mongolia). The Red Chinese can move and attack with the Russians so they also attacked at the same time, but I’m not sure if the Red Chinese are allowed to go into tt out side of China that the Japanese haven’t captured. The Russian player ended up allowing the Red Chinese to claim the Mong tt to collect the income. It just seemed weird to me that the Russians would attack the Mongolians as they were more allies then adversaries (don’t know much about the Red Chinese/Mong relations).

I’m thinking about some type of house rule (or possibly an optional rule) that might behoove the Russians/Red Chinese to stay out of Mongolia unless the Japanese are there. Maybe even a trigger like Japan capturing one of the 5 orig Russian tt that borders norther Mongolia flips them to pro allied and they are immediately activated with 3 bonus inf (surprise) placed in any Mongolian territory (including a Mongolian territory under attack) allies choice on inf placement (similar to G40 latest Alpha). I was thinking the Mongolians come into the game immediately as either their own faction, or combines w/Red Chinese creating a larger minor Russian contingent (easier).

This might protect the the 4/5 Russian tt w/IPC values that border Mongolia (one being Novo at 3 IPCs w/major IC), but allow the Japanese and Russians to fight for Vlad & Amur, and still allow the Japanese to go north though the frozen tundra of 0 valued tt’s.

On the flip side, allow the axis to place 3 bonus inf in Mongolia (like allies above) if the Russians or Red Chinese attack Mongolia first (before it is triggered by Japan) allowing any survivors to immediately join the Imperial Japanese army (don’t have to NCM in to claim them). If the Russians (not the Red Chinese) ever attack or NCM into any original (yellow) Japanese territory or Siam then the Allied benifit above is canceled, the allies wouldn’t get the benefit of the 3 bonus Mong inf etc…

    oohh what a game  :-D

We generally do not allow the Chinese, regardless of side, to attack any territories outside of China unless they are Japanese occupied.

A nice rule would be that if Japan attacks the USSR, Mongolia becomes a pro-russian neutral.

  • Yeah I think that we’ll keep the Red Chinese in China the next game unless taking territories away from Japan (think that’s probably how it’s supposed to play out). We just found it strange to have the Russians attacking the Mongolians just for income.

The 3 inf standing army is hardly enough to stop either the Russians or the Japanese from attacking, that’s why I thought it might be cool to have an incentive to keep them both from entering.
