@avner Yes, the same problem occurred today… and it looks like it has been already solved.
Stop automatically considering all new accounts as "spam" or "bots" please!

I’m busy trying to get people from the TripleA lobby, and the TripleA War Club to come join this wonderful forum.
Approximately half or 1/3 of all of the people I get to actually join us and make accounts, are being Automatically rejected and banned as being “spammers” or “bots” or whatever.
What the heck?
Seriously, this is the #1 best way to make sure this website never ever expands.
Most people who encounter this message, are just going to say “screw this website” and go find something else to do.
Only a very small minority are actually going to try and contact Djensen or IL or someone to get the block removed. Please stop this policy right away!
Disallow links and homepages and websites in the registration. Get a new or a few captchas. But get rid of this policy post haste!
thanks,

Agreed.

They are working on this. The key is programming the protical to filter out some and not others. The site got alot of recent spammers because they posted, while these new users didn’t post and the filter considered them spam for whatever reason.
-
Right now I’m using StopForumSpam.com in order to blacklist certain email addresses and IP addresses. Complain to them or volunteer to clean up spam if I remove that filter.
-
I volunteer.

I tried to uninstall StopForumSpam and it didn’t work. It’s going to take me some time.

This forum software really sucks.

Most serious spammers use IP rotators and are impossible to ban. Each and every spam attempt will appear to come from a different IP address. They have been at it for a long time and are intent on advertizing for free.
