However, you can FIGHT the battles in any order, so while you can’t call off the battles completely, there is a reason to fight certain battles before others, since the outcome can counsel whether you would then press the other attacks, or just fight 1 round and retreat.

nevertheless, strat bombings and then amphibs are first, by rule.

@surfer and then the dice lords decide to poop on you in virtually every other battle in the game. I have never witnessed such consistently bad luck from the server in my entire play history. One bad outcome can usually be overcome, but the avalanche of unfairness kept coming and coming.

I have worn out the dice box does anyone know where to buy replacements?

Although I do love this game I must confess that the box got most of the wear and tear from me using it as my main rolling method for global.

It is great to be able to roll up to 12 dice for different units. If you have 4inf, 2 art, 3 tanks, 2bombers we do one roll in the box. First 2 dice are infantry, next 4 are artillery and upgraded infantry, next 3 are tanks, next 2 are bombers, and the last die is disregarded.

Much faster and great anticipation revealing the dice.

I say you just have to go with the dice.  Even if it is “game over”, there will always be another game.
I had a game a little while back where I, as Germany, was poised to take Moscow.  In my first attack, the Russians managed to put units on Bryansk which blocked the majority of my units to the south.  As a result, I barely matched the Russian defenders.  I had 1 fighter and 1 bomber that could reach Moscow and support the battle.  The Russian AA gun fires and gets a hit for BOTH planes!  I couldn’t believe the luck.  That battle was lost by the way and the Kremlin was saved.
Next round, I retook Bryansk and moved many more units up front, including planes.  I moved in on Moscow and this time had 10 planes (2 bombers, 5 tacs and 3 fighters).  With all of that to shoot at, the Russian AA gun didn’t get A SINGLE HIT.  I overwhelmed the defenders.  Moscow was captured, the Kremlin destroyed and Stalin was executed for War Crimes against the Fatherland.
What I’m getting at is that’s just the luck of the roll.  You have to just go with it.  I have defended with 3 submarines and gotten 3 hits.  I have also defended with fighters and gotten all 5s and 6s.  It’s frustrating but it’s still just a game.  Take the loss, lick your wounds and come back to conquer the next time.

I tend to view it the same way. Axis and Allies does not take a lot of things into account… including scouting and supplying your armies. I always viewed these things as being incorporated into the game, sort of expected and assumed.

For example, many times neither side knew where the other’s forces were. They needed scouts and intelligence organizations to figure it out. There is no “fog of war” in a boardgame. You can see everything that everyone does.
Also armies/navies needed to be supplied. Axis and Allies does not require you to maintain a merchant fleet or a force of supply trucks. It is sort of given and expected.

Now these things do not directly relate to your die rolling, but it shows that not everything needs to be accounted for by the player… including the fixing of his odds. Dropping a (fair) die and letting it bounce and roll is entirely fair and just. It is random, and that is the purpose.

I agree. This “optional tech” rule pretty much means the same playing with it as without. It’s a bad buy. And if you disagree, then fine. But you probable don’t know how to play. Or maybe your just lucky. But for those who want a new system (even better than AA50) I will be coming up with a house rule. I’m developing it right now. Will post it here when finalized.
