• So…is it a cruiser in A&A terms?

I think once you decalre an amphibious assault there is no turning back.

But if the sea battle is lost, the trans can retreat

I was thinking that as well.  Defenseless transports are automatically sunk, but as krieghund explained the other day, attacking transports are not defenseless as they can retreat.  The only time an attacking transport should be lost to a SINGLE defending unit is if the attacker declares an amphibious assault on Island that scrambles a plane with an UNESCORTED transport, as the attacker must endure one round of combat before they can retreat.

Nonetheless, that is one tough destroyer!

but that just proves that dice can really be a mean bastard, or it can be a Godsend. All those people whining about Italy being broken forget one thing–-the dice. There is no right or wrong strategy, and sometimes, a destroyer can make all the difference, tricolor or not.  :-D

SHHHHH!!! Dont let people here you say that! There are some folks on here that dont believe in the dice gods, espically a ceritan comic book liker  :-D

Indeed the dice can be evil sometimes, odds in your favor or not. I think grouping the French DD with the UK DD from south Africa and the cruiser and tran from the eastern med is a safe bet, save them for a counter attack into Egypt around UK3

    Are you referring to me?

  • An attacker can retreat its transports if all other ships are sunk? I never knew that! It also seldom happens, usually you bring enough support to let the invasion take place.

In this case it would even save the transport, because the Suez can’t be crossed by the French DD.

  • @Tavenier:

I just have to share this one with you guys.
We gave the captain and the crew a posthumus the Légion d’Honneur.

    :?:-o

Im sure there are plenty other people who like comic books, the world dosnt revolve around you ya know  :-P

The transport can only retreat back 1 space to a Sz it was just from, and can’t unload.

So…. it’s possible if his other naval units were not in range, or no protection was available, his DD came and sunk the full tran for free. :)

  • But that is better then having it destroyed on the attack. You do have to commit a unit to the task.

And in this case the Suez was Axis, so I couldn’t move the French DD to the med.
