Thanks for those two links HKL.  I agree that HMS Calypso would be a stretch as a present-day survivor, since she was burned to the waterline; “relic” would perhaps be a better characterization than “survivor”.

It’s too bad that the German WWI battlecruiser Goeben (later the Tukish warship Yavuz) didn’t get preserved.  She was in service until 1950 and in existence until the 1970s, when Turkey offered her for sale to West Germany.  West Germany turned down the offer, so she was sold for scrap in 1973.  Sad.

That is sad.

I dallied with it for a little while some years ago.  I have a drum set and have casually played (although not in some months due to lack of space) for some years.

Well, the doctor that saves the life of the mother at the expense of the child would be considered a hero. The mother go on to live a full life, whereas the child has many more risks to death before the age of two (SIDS, Bad Infections, Accidents, Viruses, whatever. Adults just arnt as prone to death as children.) So there are times when an abortion may be required and not necessarily be a choice.

The doctor that takes the lives of babies because it is an inconvenience, on the other hand, I do not consider heros and many people around the world do not consider them to be heros.

But, the question was, do they think of themselves as “the good guy”? Sure. As I said with Ossama, you don’t do things that you think would make you the “bad guy”, you do things that, in your mind, are “right.”

Ooooh. Works for me. :roll: The way I see it, we wouldn’t have as many race problems if people would get over having a National-whatever-history-month. We can celebrate our cultures, fine. But these months only hinder a national unity.

Speaking of Hispanics (and don’t accuse me of being racist because I am one) I went to JCPenney today and I heard more people speaking Spanish than I heard speaking English. I’m so glad I’m in my fourth year of Spanish. It’s almost necessary to speak it now (at least to eavesdrop) :D I think that whites and Hispanics are going to be competing for majority in California in the near future.

Anyhow, race is overrated. Let’s get over ourselves and be AMERICANS. That is if you’re not ashamed of it. I’m 100% PROUD OF IT, BABY!!!
