Clarification needed on artillery

Say you attack with 1 infantry and 1 artillery and as a result of the first round of battle, you take a hit and choose to lose the arty (Not the smart choice, I know).  Does the infantry go back to an attack roll of “1” for the next round or does it stay at “2” until resolving the battle?  LHTR doesn’t clarify.

Infantry goes back to one.

If the artillery is destroyed, its not around helping the infantry anymore, so the infantry does not get the support.

The infantry has an enhanced attack when supported by artillery.  If the artillery is lost, the infantry is no longer supported by the artillery; therefore, it reverts to its normal attack of “1”.
