Well, you can do all the tests you want, but it’s been my personal experience that if I want to do an infantry only push, I use DAAK.  If I want realistic results I use FROOD.  If I have to, I use the FOE or In house roller, both are fair, but hte in house one is a pain to use sometimes because of the typing and the FOE one you have to have an FOE game to use.

And yes, I’ve seen many of my 20+ infantry pushes score 30-60% accuracy on DAAK.  I see it almost routinely.  I’ve also seen 15 armor, 6 fighters score 0 hits on DAAK. (Same battle no less as the 60% accuracy on the infantry!)

I’ve oft thought of how pointless it is to bring armor, artillery, fighters or bombers to war with the DAAK server because those units miss more often then my attacking infantry.

  • And at the same tiem you are posting this tripe, you are making comments about dice being in MY favor during our game, and I am the only one of the two of us USING DAAK!  And I am a bit heavy on ARM in my ofrces in case you ahve not noticed, so I should be getting DESTROYED if your argument had ANY validity…

Well, if there is any validity to the DAAK AA myth then why not just use the in-house dice roller for SBR’s. I trust both dice rollers and you’ll be hard pressed to find an opponent who will demand using one or the other exclusively. If the myth is true, then you would be turning it to your advantage by avoiding the DAAK roller at the right time. Personally, I don’t see it, but if someone does, then more power to them.

  • Well, I lost both of my Axis bombers on their first SBR’s in my current game against Jen… using the in-site dice roller NOT DAAK.

  • 2007 AAR League

Well, nobody seems to have any problems with frood. If there are concerns about skewed results then maybe the singles tourney should make frood the default roller. I don’t mind using DAAK or the in-house roller. But, if other poeple do then maybe we should discuss it.

  • My plan is to allow folks to use either DAAK, in-site or Frood as they choose, alternating within games as they choose.

  • When you have maxed out your IC’s, have a few BOMs sitting around, are mainly securing vacant territory to finish securing Africa, Europe and Asia… then som SBR’s from Hawaii on the US for from Europe on UK might be worth it :-)

As I said, ask JSP what it’s like to be on the business end of an American/British bombing strategy. :)

  • Getting ready to ask YOU what it is like to be on the receiving end of Japan’s SBR’s against the US :-P

-$7 on the first wave… totally average

    @Jennifer:

As I said, ask JSP what it’s like to be on the business end of an American/British bombing strategy. :)Â

It sucks!  Jen has been very effective with her Bombing campaign.  After the US/UK bombers are done Germany is lucky if they have enough income to replace battle losses.  Had it not been for Rommel’s brilliant Suez strike opening up the canal for japanese naval forces, the Allies would have been in Berlin ages ago.

As for DAAK, I’m with those who think it’s AA guns are way too accurate.  I use the in-house dice roller.

  • So if I were to start up a bombing campaign, from what people are saying, only a couple each for the UK/US until they get shot down, and then buy again?  Well, as long as I could score some nice hit points of at least 5 to 8 on Germany and SEU, I’d be a happy camper.

I prefer FROOD or the in house roller for AA Guns.

And yes Switch, the Jap SBR is going to be bad.  SBR usually is. :)  (Except in LL when SBR is nerfed.)

And yea, JSP, that was a big blunder on my part.  If I had left 5 infantry there, Germany wouldn’t have had a prayer of re-opening the Suez and letting the Jap fleet in to sink the Americans.  Then I woulda had a ton of units in Italy before Germany could do anything about it.

BTW, Germany had been reduced to 15 IPCs a round in income almost the entire game, I believe.  Once the system was up and running.

  • it helps alot when germany or japan is reduced to a few terrories with stakcs in their capitals.

Classic edition bombers works best for turtling nations. :)

  • 2007 AAR League

What is turtling anyway - building lots of Inf?

  • 2007 AAR League

Turtling is when a country, usually Germany, builds only for defense and control of their core territories as opposed to expanding their holdings and tries to hold out until Japan can take Russia.

    And sometimes it backfires.

  • 2007 AAR League

Ah I see. That’s what I’ll have to be doing I think with Darth. My game was a little rusty and by US2 he will own Norway with little chance of me taking it back. The Japanese on the other hand have not yet lost a unit and are producing 40 IPCs, and the US has abandoned the Pacific.

Hope it doesn’t backfire, cuz it’s my only option - the allies own africa and are going KGF whole hog.

So SBRs are good against turtling because you can do damage without having to fight through stacks of defending Inf, I get it.

  • Froodster, it’s only the second turn and already you’re turtling?? :-o :-o :?  The game is young dude.  And even though you seem to be on a roll as Japan so far, it’s not all sushi and green tea the further you get from your lovely fish capital!

  • 2007 AAR League

My experience is just very limited. I’ve played maybe 5 FTF games where the Allies build units or transports they can’t use, and leave their TRN in rang of my fighters unescorted, then build more units that they don’t have transpors to ship - Darth knows how to play, so shen Allies land in Norwqay in 2nd round I get scared. Of course, I left it open - duh.
