First try of the HMS Illustrious.
In my opinion, the sculpt designer must be somewhat blind…definitely, this sculpt wasn’t build to the dimensions of the original. There were a lot of differences in width and length of the sculpt in comparison to detailled carrier drawings, especially it was a pain to adjust bow and stern.
However, here it is…

Illustrious Class Mk II
Here is the ‘pill-box’ version of the illustrious class. When I tried the former decal version, it occured that the ‘bumps’ on the flight deck (AA-guns) brought some problems about when attaching the decals. Additionally, the island (tower) shape was modified. -
First attachment of decals: USS Wasp
- hull painted simply in grey (revell 76)
- flight deck painted in white (revell 5)
- smaller pill boxes cut off

I saw this thread after I made my own stickers, would had saved me time for the templates, glad to see im not the only one who like flight decks, though mine are not historically accurate, I made generic ones… don’t make fun :P
