The Great War 1914-1918: Clash of Empires
-
So what happens when Italy attacks a tt containing Austrian and German units - do the Germans just stand there and watch their Hapsburg cousins getting slaughtered?
I prefer both sides making secret bids for Italian support - highest bid get control of Italy but pays its bid in IPCs to the bank.
You could do this for minor neutrals on scheduled turns.
-
They cant and normally the Germans have other things to do than just sit in southern Austrian countryside.
Actually, here is the exact rules for that:
Italy rule:
Italy is only at war with Austro-Hungary when they enter the game on turn 3. They do not go to war and attack the other central powers until turn 6, although Italy may be attacked by any of the central powers and going to war early with all of them if that happens.Units entering coalition territory:
Ottoman units cannot enter Germany or Austria-Hungary
German units cannot enter Austria-Hungary till turn 6
French, English, Italian, or American units cannot enter Imperial Russia or vice versa. -
Can Allied units enter Russia to fight the Bolsheviks after the November Revolution?
Not very historical without that.
You can’t just make Russia “off limits” because it had a revolution. Germany and the Allies were still very much involved in Russia after 1917.
Its one of those unhistorical game conventions, like America buying units before it declares war.

Under optional rules:
Red Star/ White Star:
Once the Russia player falls, The Allied nations may attempt to land in Karelia. This move must start in the Norwegian Sea and takes up the full movement of naval units assigned to the operation. The landing units in Karelia must fight the remaining Russian forces (now Bolshevik and controlled by the German player). Occupation of any controlled areas in this manner, the income goes to the controlling Allied player.
Note: Capturing the former Imperial capitol does not bring back the Russian player back into the game. Not very historical without that.

The game provides this only the allies cant invade Russia or land while they are independent and still in the war.

Not so historical when you think of the german Alpenkorps. Although Germany and Italy were not at war until 1916, the Alpenkorps was immediately dispatched to reinforce the thinly occupied front line in the Dolomite mountains. It did not undertake offensive actions, but defended the front against repeated attacks by the Italian Alpini until Austria was able to extract enough forces from the eastern war theatre and relocate them to the new front.
It would be better when German units cannot enter Italy till turn 6 but why shouldnt they help prevent the collapse of Austria Hungary? Historically german units helped their austrian buddies on Eastern front in Galicia in 1915 already, think of Mackensens 11th army at Gorlice Tarnow (located in Austrias Galicia)

@Imperious:
Yes it is a real game available at all retailers. Only not places like Target or big box retailers.
If it’s available, can you provide a link where I can purchase one.

I will when that time comes
