Does the loser of this match go on to match up against the winner of the “last stand” bracket?
Then the winner of that goes on to play the undefeated player?Yes. It’s all detailed if you take a really good look at the expanded bracketing.

There’s no sense in it being a mandatory “best of 3” if the winner of the top bracket, bests winner of the losing bracket, in the first game.
There is only an “extra” game, if the winner of the top bracket, loses in the -championship- game. Then it’s go time. :)

How are sides determined in round 2, or is it determined for us? From the flow chart, I’m not sure.
Also, it will be a slow start for me - my partner may have to fill in for me until work clears up.

arbitrary is better imho,
just try to make sure each team plays the same number of games as axis, as they do as allies
then we can judge at the end of this whole tourney, which side won more games, without any bids or changing teams to mess it up! -
I prefer randomization. People who complain are in the minority.
