It my favorite series on youtube so far. I really hope they do a WW2 series.
Bowl Championship Series
-
Down with the BCS system!
Come on, Obama, do something useful and get us a tournament (playoff)!
-
All the BCS system was meant to do was create a situation where No. 1 plays No. 2. which was not the case in the ‘old’ system. If No. 1 was the Pac-10 champ and No. 2 was the Big 12 champ they did not play a bowl game against each other.
Now at least No. 1 plays No. 2. The National Champion has always been ‘mythical’ at present it is the least mythical it has ever been.
The BCS gives benifits teams like TCU and Boise State a great deal. In the ‘old’ system they would not get a chance to play in one of the big four bowl games.
-
@Guerrilla:
Woohoo! TCU vs Boise at the Fiesta Bowl! The Frogs are going to kick booty…
GG
if i were you i’d actually be mad GG. the BCS screwed both the non BCS league teams again. Instead of letting them beat BCS league teams, the BCS criminals just had both those teams play each other.
its time for a playoff, just like every other college sport and pro sport. enough of the money grabbing deals.

I thought the same as you, balung. TCU playing Boise State is a cheap cop-out. What a joke. No BCS busting for them. I read an article where they thought all the match ups were just so great (si.com), but I’m not seeing it.
Bah. I’ve actually converted to liking the NFL, where they have a real playoff, and everyone plays most of the other teams during the regular season. In college, teams are so inconsistent it seems like. And they don’t play anyone for like a month before their bowl game? That’s stupid.
While I’m ranting on College football (which I really enjoy watching, btw) what’s the deal with coaches getting paid millions, but their players can’t take 5 bucks? It’s a mess. I’ll stop now. -
I understand, but getting to a bowl game period? That’s something to be proud of. If we were to discuss whether College Athletics really favors the athlete over the school, than I would have to consult every single “based on a true story” Hollywood College athletics movie.

This college football season will end with some teams going undeated without a face off. That’s sad.

That’s a good point.

That’s a good point.
And that is why college football sucks.

I agree with Frimmel and while I would prefer a playoff of the conference champions, I will readily admit that the BCS is a vast improvement over the way things used to be done. IF you are not old enough to remember how the top bowls and college football used to be count yourself lucky. Considerations for bowl appearances used to be based on “who travels well”, “whose helmets are the prettiest”, and “tradition”.
As far as college football and who is the National Champion the thing is not to sweat over it. Just hope the bowls put some good teams together that match up well and try to enjoy some quality football games.

The Boise’s and TCU’s complained that they weren’t invited to the parties at all, and now they want to pick which party they attend?

Yeah, good point.
Expectations rachet up quickly, with good ol’ human nature. -
Frimmel I can see where they would be unhappy in that they played each other last year and they do not get a shot at one of the automatic qualifiers. But I still have to side with you that they should be happy they got the invites instead of being snubbed for some of the 2 loss teams from the “big” conferences.
-
See I don’t think it is Boise and TCU or their fans (for the most part) who are unhappy. The folks who are unhappy are the ones who want to see the Sooners or Tide get beat by the ‘little guys’. Of course they forget the pasting UGA put on Hawaii which doesn’t seem to come up much in the TCU/Boise got a raw deal conversation.
A lot of folks behave has though they deserve a shot at the ‘Big boys’ to ‘prove’ their ranking is legit. Of course I find that line of logic says the rankings aren’t legit. If undefeated no. 4 and undefeated no. 6 isn’t an interesting game between opponents worthy of each other that sort of says they don’t play that great of football doesn’t it?
Or maybe that the more interesting thing is to see the mighty brought low.
-
It’s good that each year is a bit different.
We had the UGA butt-whooping of Hawaii. (It was difficult for voters to get an accurate vote on Hawaii because they played nobody all year)
That was a highly entertaining game, though. Especially, looking at the Hawaii fans, band, players, etc. And also, seeing their “awesome” football team exposed, playing a solid one. I don’t watch many games not involving my team, but that was one I did not want to miss. Some years the best team from a “minor” conference gets paired with a “big boy”. This year, they get paired against each other.

Have any of you watched the Youtube vidoes with Hitler talking about the Dallas Cowboys. It’s awesome.

@RogertheShrubber:
Finally, the BCS is here.
What are you saying? That the other 20 bowls were meaningless? :-D
-
Not meaningless, just not as interesting
-
Okay. How interesting are the remaining 14 bowl games?
