Thanks for clearing that up Krieghund, you saved a huge debate!
Playing AA online
-
Hey everyone, great site. So, I just recently started playing Axis and Allies. My older brother was always a huge fan. He lives overseas and only visits once a year. When he was home last we bought the Anniversary Edition and now I am hooked. So what would be the best way we could play online since that is our only option for most of the year. I looked into the computer games but we both use Macbooks.
Thanks!

Most of us use a program called Abattlemap, see this thread:

However, I’m not sure if there are any issues with Macs.

it depends on what you are looking for.
AABattlemap is a great utility that provides a map and units etc, for Axis and Allies. It does not however provide a place/lobby to find other online players. For that part you will have to either use the forum to find players, then play by forum. Or you can try out TripleA, which provides both, at http://triplea.sourceforge.net/mywiki and can be downloaded http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?wzvnmlw1uej for the latest version, and for an earlier version http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?wn3mjmen3yk

Welcome ethandt!
Yes, playing online by using Battlemap is not too bad.

Thanks for the help guys. Right now I’m just looking for a way to set something up so that my brother and I can play while he is over seas. I’ll check these out. Is there anything bad about the Axis and Allies over at Gametable Online? I was hoping to be able to play AA50 but that looks like it would work in a pinch.

AA50 is in the latest TripleA unstable, but it is not 100% free from bugs yet.
GTO works fine for those who prefer it, but TripleA has many more options.
