Battle Phase Question

Got a Q about the battle phase. I’m playing with the US. Japan had 2 destroyers with cargo in seazone D US have 2 bombers and 1 fighter in seazone D. Is there still a combat following the sequens. 1 air attack, 2 sea attack or there is no attack at all

Yes, there is combat. The destroyers fire in the Attack Air Units step, and the surviving bombers and fighter fire in the Attack Sea Units step.
