[Global 1940] What do you use for new game pieces?

We play G40. We’re liking the various HR’s and what is available on AAA. For pieces like mobile artillery, bunkers, military bases etc., what is everyone using for game pieces?

@SEP A large source of pieces for house-ruled units is Historical Board Gaming (HBG). Their website is at https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/. They have acrylic markers for bases in the markers and tokens section and plastic game pieces in a variety of colors in the battle pieces section.

While they’re not the sole source of units, they do provide a lot of good stuff. Another good source for units is Shapeways (https://www.shapeways.com/), which is a 3D printing shop where you can find just about every type of wheeled vehicle, tracked vehicle, plane, and ship from World War II, not to mention other time frames.

If you’ve not noticed from the link in the previous reply, HBG’s “Amerika” game has advanced units for US, Germany, and Japan. The “Heavies” expansion could also be used, but honestly, I’d recommend buying that for all three powers and the map, too.

1941 Also has some unique sculpts that are fun to mix in.

In order of increasing cost:
HBG A&A units (available by specific game so you get the right variation/version).
HBG custom units (more detailed, may vary in size or color to OOB units)
Pico Armor (pewter castings, not plastic)
Tumbling Dice (pewter - the 1/600 aircraft work well as fighters & bombers)
HBG 3D printed units
GHQ (pewter)
Shapeways 3D printed units

HBG often has wrong color parts at a big discount if you are OK with repainting the units.
