cover for bombers
I am having a difficult time wrapping my brain around this…bombers get hit with red rolls. it doesn’t matter how many fighter escorts i bring…a red is a dead bomber, so what is the point of bringing fighter escorts?

Pros and cons of the game
So I am about to get this instead of Global…Like all of you I love A and A but i am very interested in the game mechanics this game offers. I have been watching and reading as much as i can as I wait to find a copy for sale but just wondering overall what are the pros and cons of the game?

National Objectives question
how do you keep track of the NO’s, and how do you keep track of the income from them, do you include it on the IPC chart?
In the 1941 setup for example, the USA gets 40 ipc….they also have automatically completed a NO bye controlling the usa…so would you mark 40 or 45 om the ipc chart?

Differences between ships
We are having a hard time telling the difference between the types of ships, is there a quick way to tell which is which…other then the battleships are the biggest?

so let me see if I got this.
during a first strike, the hits are removed instantly, unless its a sub, then it gets its first strike as well.
if there is a destroyer, I know that subs cannot submerge, but do they still get there suprise attack??

Sub question
So I am a little confused on subs…
I get that they can submerge if there is no destroyer, but what I dont get is…
1. If there are 2 subs in a sea zone…i attempt to do combat with my battleship, can they just ignore the combat and submerge…meaning i never evern get a shot at them?
2. I dont understand there suprise attack…the book says that they go first…both attacking and defending subs…so if i do a first strike are my hits killed instantly like in the original game? the rule book on page 30 states that you move all hit units too the casuality zone…that makes no sense too me…
3. If I am doing a first strike, does the enemy subs go before normal combat as well?
All in all, please explain subs in general…thanks so much

we all got together and added a few friends and played the original 1980 version once…everyone loved it so we got this one…first game is next week…

Artillery question
I dont understand artillery. I understand that it will improve one inf to attack at 2……but does the artillery get a role as well? If so, why would you every buy inf, not just all artillery?
I thought that art was there only to improve the inf, but after reading the directions, it sounds like art gets a roll as well…this makes no sense too me…of course I havent played the game yet so maybe it will…anyway, can someone please explain how art works…

i see, so if i buy 6 researchers, they will still only produce 1 break through. and I will be able to roll all 5 every round until i get a breakthrough. Once i get that one breakthrough, all researchers are discarded….

A few questions
Hello all, brand new here…Just purchased the anniversary edition and i have a few questions. I have only played the original game from the 80s so…
1. I dont understand how the tech option works now. If I buy 5 chances, and roll 2 six’s I believe you can only use one correct? What I really dont understand is what do I do with the failures, it would appear I get to keep the ones who have failed?? If so, do I get to roll with them before every turn for free until they hit? Also, since I can only have one success per turn, do I get to keep the other success since I couldnt use them? O heck, just explain how it works for me please…
also, do most of you play with this option or skip it? Tech meant a lot in WW2, however since you dont lose the failures (i believe) this seems really over powered now.2. Subs, is the surprise attack only one the first roll or is it anytime I want? If I miss on the first 2 rounds ( i know the enemy gets to try to hit me if I stick around) but on the third round I make a hit…can I submerge and the casualties do not get a chance to roll at me?
I have many more, but thats it for now…
