Isn’t that strategy a little dangerous by bringing the US in so early. also how do you reach celebes first turn. isn’t it 1 spot away from naval reach even with the bases? I do not have the board infront of me

hello my question is can a non-belligerent attack a neutral/axis friendly-neutral?

Through all the games i’ve played as the Allies (mostly 1942 though) Russia has been able to play an even larger role than historically accurate much quicker. in the 1940 version (1 real game so far since i bought it last thursday) Russia played an important role. i think it (as previously stated) all depends on who is controlling what and what they like to do. if they are just building infantry and fighting a war of attrition they won’t get very far, however; if russia has a slightly more balanced attack and germany is over aggressive then it is possible out out flank germany and do some serious offensive damage.

NO stands for National Objective.

thank you very much, I should have figured that’s what it was, I actually love the national objectives, particularly Lebensraum; even though the historical link between lebensraum and the actual launching of Barbarossa is slightly tenuous. I found as a historian the national objectives (NO) really adds to the game because it really grounds the action in concrete history.

I also just played my first game of AAE1940 last night and i did not feel that the US was too powerful at all. In fact by the time America was a legitimate threat Germany (i was the axis) had already taken Russia and Italy had taken north Africa. I actually find this version more balanced than the other ones (1942, anniversary, etc.). I find the way neutral territories work now to be great since it adds another level to the game and gives both the Axis and Allies tough decisions to make.

Just a question though i’m not too familiar with the lingo, what does NO stand for?
