Oh I agree it’s a gamble and like any big gamble if it doesnt go your way it’s a bit of a disaster.
But given that I’ve seen Germany take a pretty bulked out France with barely any losses, it’s something to be considered. And when comparing the two outcomes, leaves you in more or less the same place.
However if the rolls do go your way, you can have a pretty effective fighting force capable of independent action in Africa or the Middle East.
Something to consider at any rate. Especially if you fancy trying something different.
Strategy Guides?

hi, I made a post earlier about any help/advice for a game in turn 4. That game concluded with an “axis victory” in which Germany reached the gates of Moscow but didn’t have enough forces to hold from an Italian attack later on that turn.
I would like some general strategy guides for the allies as every time I’ve played a game it’s an axis victory or a stalemate.
I know there are common moves throughout all the games like losing the British home fleet and a Taranto raid. I also know the UK is supposed to help keep russia alive.
overall I need a good allies stragey for this game as I whish to improve and finally beat the Axis.

This is for Global 1940 but I’m sure at least half of the details here apply to Europe 1940 (lots of options):
