Yeah, it took me a while to figure out as well. Before I had TripleA I was super frustrated not being able to read those files.
If the object of the game was kill all Japanese capitol ship, how would you do it?,

The title says it all. No Europeans to contend with. I like subs, but destroyers are never less than a two.
-
@crockett36 the US will always be able to out navy Japan if it spends more than 85%-90% of its IPCs in the pacific. If the US goes 100% in the pacific with a balanced naval build (multiples of 1 Carrier, 1-2 Subs, 1-2 Destroyers, 2 Fighters/Tac Bombers) you will eventually defeat the Japanese if the Indians don’t die early.
Additionally, I’ve been experimenting with using the Australians. If you use your Australian income to purchase carriers, and fighters for those carriers, it allows the Americans to buy a more submarine-heavy fleet. The sub-heavy fleet ordinarily would not be able to defend against the Japanese navy, but with the ANZAC reinforcements, it can get close without worrying about defense.

@windowwasher thanks. I’ve been playing with the idea of no new capital ships. Could that work?
-
@crockett36 as which nation?
-
@crockett36 with the US, I’ve long wanted to try a submarine only build. just put down 12-13 a round over and over again for 10 rounds. The Australians would have to buy defensive ships though still

@windowwasher I am trying to understand Andrew’s warfare principles. It’s seems like subs would be the infantry of the sea, or destroyers. I’d love to sit down, put two or three subs on every convoy zone, assume Japan has all of Asia, but we rule the seas–how much income would convoying take away.
This interplays with the concept of hit points vs offensive and defensive pips. Destroyers for two more might be the real infantry of the sea.

46 ipcs can be convoyed from the Japanese, assuming money islands and Phil, May, and Shan State.

Any competent Japanese navy can prevent that. Each sub raids on average 2 IPCs, say you want to raid Java, it takes 2 subs. A Japanese player will send a destroyer and a bunch of planes in making a profit
