I ran the calculations. He will win easily with a +52 TUV outcome. You will need to stack it with everything possible if you want to dissuade him from a J4 attack. Even then, it will fall if he wants it to fall, and my guess is he wants it to fall.
-
Then it shall be as costly as possible, so US can run J over in a couple of turns.
-
Ok, the change is then to abandon Yunnan apart from the 2 inf already there and the 2 mech, which will be able to swing back, and stack Calcutta. I’ll just check how Yunnan is holding.
-
why keep the 2 British troops already there? nobody is attacking Yunnan. Nobody is attacking China.
-
Because that’s the only thing pressuring FIC and Malaya.
-
@trulpen Pressuring FIC and Malaya? I am so confused.
-
I’m sometimes following the great maxime of attack is the best defence. ;)
-
@trulpen India is falling on J4. This is not about a counterattack. Your forces are going to be wiped off the face of the map. He is not going to waste his precious land units on an attack against Yunnan. If that was his plan, he would have done a different J1 opener and saved a bunch of troops.

At some time J needs to start focusing east. They can’t afford to just have their air-force stacked in FIC forever. There’s a mIC there. It’s extremely valuable territory for J.
If UK puts pressure on that specific territory, J has to account for it. It binds resources to the defence. Maybe.
Likely J will stack up with a lot of land units there as well, so this is more or less hypothetical, but let me put another perspective in here:
I’d rather have those 2 inf on the board than let J kill them off far too easily in Burma.
-
If he attacked those Chinese units, he would lose 4 land units and 6 planes. Why would he do that? That would make him miss his prime objective of a J4 India crush.

I fully agree.
-
retreat what you can to India. retreat the rest to Burma. It won’t be an easy attack on Burma because he has no land units. He will lose planes to strafe off the soldiers. Or he will need to transport troops that would have been used on J4 for the India crush. Not the worst either way.
-
If you can, have Egpytian planes in Persia to reinforce India if that makes sense on UK3.
-
Actually East Persia is better to give you more flexibility.
-
There is nothing you can do when Japan truly wants a J4 India crush, but you can make it a bit more costly, making him lose more planes.

The chinese will take care of Burma if anything lands there.
I just noticed I made a horrible mistake regarding purchase. My plan was to buy a mIC in Persia. Unfortunately slipped my mind. That factory is key to our plans. I’d say much more important than the ac.
I’m therefore asking @AndrewAAGamer to allow a change of purchase. I’d like to exchange the ac for a mIC in Persia and 1 inf, 1 mech in S Africa.

He has plenty of land units via amphibious attack.
-
@trulpen yes, but the two land units used to attack Burma will die before they can attack India. That is a win for the Allies.
-
@trulpen are you sure you want a mIC in Persia, that would be an attractive target for Japan to attack after the India crush. I haven’t played this skip-China plan before, but it gives him more room to focus on the Middle East and Russia if he so chooses.
I haven’t run the numbers though.
-
Exactly my point. Anything that goes there will die and even allow UK landing air there if we care for it. We don’t need to protect the area with valuable units. Anything standing in Burma I’d say is dead, so that’s a loss for the Allies.
Of course, I do acknowledge that J is low on land in the vicinity. Any land disappearing from the final blow is a win for Allies. Might make it reasonable to put 1 inf there. I’ll mull over it while listening to your impressions.
