Is China keeping Yunnan J1 a big deal?

Although I have taken to passing on the SZ37 attack in a J1. The bombers are highly useful for attacking Yunnan and facilitate keeping an infantry out of the attack, although if you think 17% to lose a plane is something I can’t imagine you doing that. Also, losing the Cruiser may not be worth as much as the UK BB.

Holding Yunnan prevents the war in China from being an endless whack-a-mole situation. Capturing Yunan also allows you to send fighter escort when strategic bombing the factory in India.

The design of the map makes Yunnan a territory that is easy to reach from many allied areas, the problem for the allies being that Japan has the initiative to prevent China from fortifying. Japan typically loses Yunan t1 but has the opportunity as already mentioned to take out the Chinese fighter and main stack the following turn

From many games of trying both J1 and J2, I have found that the former is more advantageous if you have average luck.  The latter is a better choice if you are worried about getting diced by a stubborn UK battleship that never misses while your blind Japanese pilots circle around hopelessly.  J3 just plain stinks and is usually a sign of a novice Axis player.

The thing that really killed sea lion for me was the R threat. Perhaps you guys are masters of both taking London and holding R at bay?

Sure if London is begging to be taken, but no decent player of the UK would allow that to happen.

––I just noticed your new avatar. Pretty Cool. I can almost hear the sirens Screaming! BTW, when my Dad was soldiering in WW2 Germany he “liberated” a complete Luftwaffe fur-lined leather flying suit from the factory his unit overan. Just one of the many “souveniers” he returned home with.

I’m glad you like it. I got bored with my other avatar, and wanted a more aggressive avatar. I bet your dad had a ton of things he brought back. It would be neat to see some of those items. My USA purchase is always 1 Carrier for New York, and 1 Carrier, 1 Battleship for San Fran. The only exception is if there is a U-Boat threat in the Atlantic right away, (destroyers and scramble fighters) or if Japan goes pearl harbour (subs and scramble fighters).
