I have to concede this game. I attacked Normandy with 5 inf, 1 art, 1 mec, 5 fig and 4 bombers. According to the calculator, I have an 86% chance of winning, with 6 units surviving on average. I already ran the fight 6 times, and the best I could get was winning with 1 bomber left.
This is ridiculous, but surely a sign that I’m not supposed to win this game. There’s no sense in continuing without the Luftwaffe, particularly because my buys assumed I would have some airforce left. It was a good game, but I can only take so much dicing.

Maybe something is wrong with your calculation. Did you include the French fighter that flew in after Italy’s turn? When I calculate the battle, the result is a 60% win for you, with 2.8 units remaining on average.
If I calculate with all your fighters (6 fighters in total) your odds go up to a 78% win and 4.4 units remaining on average (and still a negative TUV swing). If you want to take the territory, your odds are slightly worse (76%, 4.2 units). With worse odds for me, I wouldn’t have done the invasion. Indeed, it was the very idea that even though you’d have a pretty good chance of throwing my first wave back into the sea, doing so would cripple your airforce.

I was wondering why you’d risk so many forces… It’s true that with 60% and 3 surviving units I wouldn’t try to attack either. Lets take this as my ‘re-roll’ and I’ll post a new German turn.
