  • I’m sorry about your Japan invasion :(. I actually wanted you to succeed because I didn’t want to be left off the hook for missing the fact that 2 planes could reach from midway. That was a really dumb oversight. On the other hand, looks like we might actually have a good game now :P. If only I could do a damn thing against those dumb neutrals :(.

    I figure if you’re 40% to take Tokyo US2, you have to do it. If you’re 40% to take London on G3, you can’t make that G2 buy; if you fail, the game’s over. And if odds are that tight, you probably lose your whole airforce and navy. And the US doesn’t have that land enemy sitting on their border with 50 pieces looking to invade.

    This is the first sz7 for that. It pretty much took me so far away that I almost didn’t have a choice. I was trying to get you to delay DOW until J3, thinking that I put out enough of a deterrent. When you didn’t, I was stuck. It takes too many turns to get back from the middle of the north Pacific. I don’t think I’m going to use sz7 for that again. Using sz16 as the carrier group placeholder and moving most of the other WUSA fleet to Pearl seems like it would do the same thing as long as there were no blockers in range - and the carrier planes could still land US2 in sz7 on the US1 carriers from WUSA… And it’s only 1 move back to a naval base from sz16 in case the “deterrent” worked.

  • I’m not sure if the SZ7 move should deter against a J2. Even if you had landed in Korea and backed that up with the Soviets, Japan still has enough air to crack that nut with the 10 inf in Man. It did make me waste 15 on an airbase in Hunan though, I’m still a little bitter about that :P.

  • I misclicked at the end of the Yunnan battle, hence the edits. Your units have an uncanny knack for hitting when I find it least convenient :P.


  • I noticed I got a disproportionate number of “yeah, I’m dead but I’m taking somebody with me” hits… China seems to be a magnet for those arrrgh moments because the low piece counts make the battles so unpredictable. You could have 2 identical 3I-vs-I battles and one could end up with a 3I capture and the other could end up with a hold. I had one battle in Szechwan where it must have been foggy or something. Something like 25 total units were involved and it took FIVE ROUNDS before anybody hit anything.
