Good video along with the turn 1 video in HJ’s thread. One thing I do have to comment on is there must be some horrible, horrible rolls for the Germans in turn 1. Getting Egypt in turn 1 is usually dicey so not getting it is possible, I tend to take Trans-Jordan to make blocking  the canal a sure thing. But not getting Karelia is a definate blow to the Axis, especially with the 2 Russian Fighters there waiting to be picked off. When I play as Germany I love it when Russia packs Karelia at the end of their turn with Tanks and especially their Fighters. At least the Axis got into the precious Russian Tanks though. Also Japan taking their SZ 37 fleet into a blocked Suez Canal was a move I never seen before, but might be deadly for them as it seems USA is going all out Pacific in this one. As it stands with USA looking to dominate the Pacific and UK having an Atlantic fleet at the end of turn 2 with no US help, looks like an Allied victory is almost certain.

Good videos though, looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

Afraid not Commando Brado. If the Carrier retreats, the Air units splash into the sea.
Unlike ground or naval units, When an Air units retreats from combat it remains above the territory or in the SZ until non combat. It is now it must leave the hostile SZ or territory. If it has no movement left and no Carrier upon which to land, it crashes.

The 40th anniversary ed of Risk was glorious.  All the little touches like the velvety bags and nice weighty pieces did not go unappreciated. I bust it out on special occassions. :)
I was always very fond of the 1993 board, colors and deck design. The throw back wooden box is nice in its way too, with the generic blocks and tinier map. I sometimes use it with people who’ve never played. But I never got into the modern boards or redesigns. For me the 1812 look fit the board best so those are my go to’s.

For the future of the franchise it’s hard to say, with the rights and who owns what, but I am definitely intrigued by War Room. Axis and Allis is a strong name, so it would be nice to see it continued with input from the designer, but a War Room game that had a similar dynamic to the gameplay, and I’d happily jump ship. Or call it War Room: Allies and Axis heheh, for the left jab. Whatever it’s called I’ll surely buy it and play.

Eager to hear more about the rules and concepts he’s planning.

Australia 3 territories, British malaya and Morocco separated… but china shrinks to 4 territories from Anniversary Edition… why can’t they just give us a fine map with the best from both !?  :?
