3 games played as a 8-15 y. o.(other than RISK)…
-
1)Monopoly(maybe I should disqualify this one , too)
2)Scrabble
3)Jumping off my bed as a super hero, in my undies with my bathrobe tied behind me and my robe belt criss-crossing my chest.Damn, if I don’t feel like I’m at a pajama party!
Flashbacks…
What do you think? Should I disqualify Monopoly?
-
monopoly is awesome, but it can get really competive, ive played a few games that almost ended in fights.
-
I like the game of LIFE. :)
-
ever play mousetrap? that game owns.

Well, when I played that, we’d be too lazy to actually go through the game, so we’d just set up the trap and set it off until we got bored. Yay, instant gratification!

Played Life with the kids. It’s not my bag.
Mousetrap broke quickly so bad memories there.
Monopoly has a lot of regional rules I think. You gotta nail down the rules you use/don’t use like mortgage 10%, auction, Free Parking(free, $500 each time someone lands there) or more than one hotel on a single property.
I must say I recall Stratego as my first real foray into the world at war.
-
1-axis and allies
2-axis and allies pacific
3-stratigo -
Loved Stratego, Chinese Checkers, Monopoly (still play that with my oldest).
did you disqulify Risk- Love that one!
-
Stratego was awesome, before they bastardized it with the 4 player edition
-
I’m an old Chess player myself.
-
chess is good, only if you have a good opponent. i played a friend once ,and (i swear to god) i pulled the same 4 move checkmate on him twice in a row
-
Silly me. I thought everyone would understand…
1)A&A
2)A&AE
3)A&APwere given perpetual 1, 2, and 3 position and needn’t be included!
Of course, Risk is the perennial 4th position!

Has anybody ever played
1. Panzer Leader
2. Luftwaffe
?2 great games from the 70’s. Panzers is all about tactical warfare on the western front, Luftwaffe is about the allies bombing Germany.
Both excellent, not quite as good as A&A or A&AE but still good. -
Ah, yes. Pre-PC.
Panzer Leader…little cardboard squares maneuvering across a board with hexagonal spaces! If I’m right, I just had a gameback(game flashback.)
-
Hex games rule …
as long as the rulebook is more than 12495 pages :) -
Damn straight!
-
I was gonna say that LJ

I was gonna say that LJ
You are not old enough. :P
That’s an early '70’s comment. You’re right. Today’s generation has barely enough of an attention span to learn how to play A&A. My friend got a hex-based game about carrier warfare in the pacific-we attempted to learn how to play, but when the rulebook proved to be written by a team of attorneys, flipped a coin to determine the winner. I won twice, followed by a couple of wins from him. :P
