New builf Fighters on Carriers?

Honestly with the size of the board I don’t think a carrier would do too much. You are much better off building destroyers and subs along with the occasional battleship for the extra hit it can absorb and for shore bombardment purposes too. The only time I will build a carrier is if the German player makes a mistake and I can take my time so I can have a really nice atlantic fleet, but usually that is not the case.

I would say classic is the one to break people in with, then move on to Europe and then Pacific. The rules have gotten more complex since classic which was pretty simple and had few “and/if” rules like Europe and Pacific have. I know personally that after playing AAE and AAP it is hard to go back to classic because it is so simple, so you might just try and have them watch you play or they play a game with you but you help them out the first game or two, like tell them when to do a SBR or why it is important to build infantry only for Russia, simple strategy like that. I have learned to keep noobs interested you can’t own them their first game, or they will just quit and never want to play again.

Personally, I would like to see an Industrial Center in Egypt, as otherwise there is no way for the UK to reinforce Egypt other than by conquering all of North Africa, or by sending a big convoy through the Med.  I am not a fan of sending big convoys through the Med. I can see the no new ICs from a game balance standpoint, but Egypt is a major problem.

Anyone have any alternate strategies of reinforcing Egypt?

This is not a big issue in AAE for two reasons:  (1) Russia can reinforce the Middle East from its territory, and (2) Germany needs to concentrate its forces in Europe.  Germany cannot really afford to devote too much attention to holding Egypt, because it will cost Germany dearly elsewhere.  Germany has to worry about preparing for the D-Day invasion while simultaneously bulking up to take Russia.  Holding the Middle East is a low priority compared to these objectives.

How about one bomber a turn instead, at least for the first couple of turns?  The cost isn’t that much more, the attack ability is slightly better, and the additional range is a significant advantage.  I like to build up a force of at least three bombers that can range around to various trouble spots (Gibraltar, Egypt, Russia, France, the Atlantic), wherever trouble rears its head, or wherever additional force is needed for an attack.

I would agree, while I don’t see anything that says exactly that in the AAE rules, it appears pretty clear that that is the case with the SBR rule 5 that says that defending fighters used in SBR defense cannot also be used in defense of a land attack against the same territory.

You have to hold it for one turn. However, an ally could land a fighter there on their following turn. Not that Germany has an ally, but it may apply to the Allies.
