  • OT: Notes about the game rules and how the game is revolving so far:

    I said it looks like spring42 with restriction 'cause usually in that game Germany holds while Japan pushes west!

    The game looks interesting, especially for Italy and UK preserving the entire fleet during round1. This turns the game into a defensive game (or at least that’s what it looked in our game so far).

    I think the game will still need tweaks here and there, but I like the idea behind it.

    This is what I noticed:

    *even if UK starts with a very big fleet, it’s very hard to attack a German territory due to counterattacks (this is true especially thanks to your sub purchases), and you can’t even leave India empty or the Italians+Germans will have tons of fun in the Middle East. It might be worst, 'cause in this game opening I was very lucky with UK defense in sz106 and I have 1free transport, 1free dd, 4 more free troops and 3 less German subs for free.

    Yet this is still a game.
    What’s your opinion so far of these tweaks?


  • some of the things that I concern you, I actually believe are strengths.

    uk can’t easily execute a premature normandy in 1940 after being push out of france - good!

    the uk has to prevent the germans and italians from taking the middle east, sounds like the north africa campaign, note that I did not have to go into syria & trans jordan, I could have reinforced tobruk.

    china is going to get crushed, maybe china needs a bit of strengthening, but then, we might upset the balance.  again japan should be crushing china in 1940.

    the uk should not be in a position to start attacking in 1940, they should be trying to survive.


  • I didn’t say it’s a concern, actually I like it. The UK player keeps London safe, but their forces aren’t enough to threat europe. That’s like ww2, works great!

    Maybe some more resistance in the medi would be cool, but that’s a map problem rather than balance problem. (If it was me, Egypt seazone would have been 4seazones from Italy and 2sea zones from Greece, making Greece an important base to launch assault against Egypt. With 4 seazones between Egypt and Italy you would see a more caution naval campaign)

  • Actually there’s a concern I have and it’s about Japan.

    If Japan keeps the +10IPCs NO for too long (say 8 turns) and he doesn’t attack the Allies, he gets 48 IPCS/turn + any IPC taken from Russia. This means USA won’t be a big deal with 52IPCS/round in say, turn9, what do you think?

  • the allies are still out producing the axis at this point even without the extra US war income.

    the usa will get the war income on round 8.

    yes, japan can attack russia (and that’s what hitler wanted them to do), however, it could come at the cost of a weakened navy. Â

    eventually japan will be spending much if not more time on sea than land.
