Ok, so an empty (US) island on which the japanese land a single AA gun without backing it up with bombardment remains in US hands? Damn, then I missed out on one more INF on my last turn assault…

Not during the regular movement phase.

If you want to during the reinforcement phase you have to pay supplies at your base depending on which sector on your side of the board (shown on the gameboard) you want to place the ships. This is called Rapid Deploy.

Supplies are for – building airfields, repairing airfields, repairing ships in the damage area of your base and for rapid deployment.

Geez, the most activity this board has seen in awhile and Krieg beats me to all the fun.  :lol:

No, it’s not specifically in the rules.  It’s just implied by the fact that the damaged area is on the back side of the card, away from the main sea zone area.  This is more pronounced on the Japanese card than on the American one.  Do you think this needs to be added to the FAQ?  This is the first time it’s ever come up.

A specific update for this is probably not necessary but as part of a bigger FAQ update it probably wouldn’t hurt.

New Georgia was the most contested spot in this blowout game, US ground troops landed and were reinforced but were never able to secure the island and once the USN was pushed back away from the Island the US troops were wiped out. The IJN completed its destruction of the US fleet in this game and we called it off. No one reached VP points but with the IJN steaming off the New Caledonia waters it seemed pointless to continue.

In general I view this blowout game as that abnormality that won’t happen often, in fact I love this game for its balance and that its up to the players to make choices that change the battle.

In our games New Georgia is often the most contested Island.

Right.  If the transport or destroyer already has units and/or supplies on it, you can’t unload them in the Load and Move step to switch them for something else.

Me too.  We were using one supply token for every ship sent and only sending them during the resupply phase.  We were spending huge amounts of money getting ships onto the board.  No wonder our game was dragging on way past turn five.
