The FMG Italian sub with the OOB version.
-
The Italian Zara class cruiser with the OOB version.
-
The Littorio class battleship next to the OOB BB.
-
The Aquila class CV with the OOB CV. The wider flight deck is really great for faster game play. Planes set on there easier. Thanks so much Jeremy for all your efforts. It has been some kind of project! And now it really is on the way.

i have a question about teh german tigers. are they going to bigger than teh current OOB panzers IV’s?

Yes they are. Check out this pic Jeremy shared a few months back. The King Tigers are the pre-production molds that are submitted for approval before the factory commits to making the mould. Final pieces will be grey.

Painted my pieces avocado green to distinguish them from the russians. This is a close match to the green used by Avalon Hill in Axis & Allies Revised for their UK units. I liked the colour (but not on the UK units) and thought it to be pretty good for the Italians.
I used Krylon avocado green fast dry.

and more. I switched out FMG’s trucks with Table Tactics’ half tracks.
I also modified FMG’s battleships by raising the B turrets.

In response to a PM, yes, that is Lego in the background.

What about the armored cars? Did you paint them?

I only painted what you see. I didn’t do the armoured cars, as I liked using the half track instead for a mec unit. The armoured car I see as a reconassaince unit, which I don’t see in a game in this scale. I think there are too many units as it is.

Here are some shots of the painted Italians at war!

dude i love what you did with your Italians. i think i might do this since i want to keep the OOB italian infantry and the halftracks with the rest of FMG pieces. though i kinda want to use their armored cars as Light tanks for now , since there secondary tanks isnt really a heavy tank
-
The Italian heavy tank is a bit small to identify it as a heavy compared to the regular tank. Don’t need it anyway. I would have used the trucks as motorized infantry, but the trucks are larger than I would have liked. And the infantry are just a tad smaller than OOB.
Regardless, I’m happy I have the pieces. Now I finally have a distinct Italian fleet.

Nice layout Jim - I like the Italian sage kinda color… though the ape shapes of the OOB Italians always bothered me. Is that HBG’s map?

I don’t plan on replacing all my pieces with FMG’s so I wanted to keep some consistency with scales. Although, the difference between the OOB infantry and FMG’s is so small as to not be noticed.
As for the map, no. The map is not the one available from HBG. It is from an entirely different game. Although, it may be available through HBG at some point.
