Sculpts for Minor Aligned Powers

Does anyone of you uses special Sculpts for the minor aligned powers Belgium, Romania, Serbia, Albania, Portugal, Persia and Bulgaria?

I was thinking of buying some dutch neutrals from Historical Board Gaming (Artillery seems to match) but I�m not sure if the Infantry has the same size as 1914 Infantrysculpts. The black German WW2 Infantrymen with their short guns look like dwarfs compared to the grey imperial army…

Maybe any other suggestions ?

Depends on what rules you’re using; is it really worth it if Romanian infantry function exactly like Russians?

I’ve though of minor nations units getting a combat bonus fighting in their homeland.

Since the official infantry are getting towards 1/72 scale you might consider HaT infantry sets to supplement your pieces:

I think the Dutch infantry from HBG are smaller than the infantry from 1914. Coach made them to fit in with the 1940 sculpts which are smaller.

The only difference is the new ANZAC infantry from Pacific 1940 2e. They are the right size for 1914 but they dwarf all the other nations’ infantry sculpts in 1940 2e.

I thought the infantry in the 1940 games was 1/72 scale. Are they actually a smaller scale? Are the infantry from 1914 1/72 scale?

I’ve also been looking around for something that could work well for neutral artillery and infantry. So far the only thing that seems to fit is that WWI era Dutch artillery piece HBG sells. It would also be kind of cool if their was some Arab/Persian cavalry unit that could be used for Persia, Arabia, and Afghanistan in place of infantry.

I think Monopoly has a lot of potential. The Monopoly automobile can be used as an armored car and there is also a dreadnaught, cavalry, and artillery piece. Also, Uncle Pennybags does bear a strong resemblance to Georges Clemenceau.

I once mocked up an Axis and Allies Monopoly board.

One thing I can’t stand, though, is that these themed editions keep the 4 original corner squares, destroying the atmosphere competely.

I use the dutch sculpts for all 3 …orange = pro axis, white = neutral, light blue = pro allied

and they work perfectly

i also use the grey chips from 42.2 for nuetrals and the colored ones for pro allied or axis

the artillery matches the 1914 style and the infantry perfectly matches the smaller chips

would recommend it!

Sounds good! Does the Dutch Infantry has the size of 42 or 14?

I use some houserules. I let them enter the war historically, without beeing activated by Allies. Romania for example attacks AH in September 1916. (R5) (if not beeing attacked earlier) If there occurs an RusRev its finally possible to distingish the Russian units from the romanian/serbian units on the board. Romania as a minor aligned power does also generate new troops every round as long as its not defeated.

Nice find but those prices are kind of steep given their somewhat poor quality. I have seen some of those modern terrorist figs on thegamecrafter.com.

Arab irregulars or “Lawrence of Arabia” are regularly voted the number one most requested set for new 1/72 plastic figures.
