      @Chacmool:

      @Harry:

      It would also be kind of cool if their was some Arab/Persian cavalry unit that could be used for Persia, Arabia, and Afghanistan in place of infantry.

      I found some nice Afghanistan Infantry:

      they even sell modern terrorists:

      Nice find but those prices are kind of steep given their somewhat poor quality. I have seen some of those modern terrorist figs on thegamecrafter.com.

      The Guard House should be changed to Death Camp.

      I’ve also been looking around for something that could work well for neutral artillery and infantry. So far the only thing that seems to fit is that WWI era Dutch artillery piece HBG sells. It would also be kind of cool if their was some Arab/Persian cavalry unit that could be used for Persia, Arabia, and Afghanistan in place of infantry.

      I think Monopoly has a lot of potential. The Monopoly automobile can be used as an armored car and there is also a dreadnaught, cavalry, and artillery piece. Also, Uncle Pennybags does bear a strong resemblance to Georges Clemenceau.

      I’m starting to get the impression most of this forum is just one long discussion between Imperious Leader and Flashman.

      @Flashman:

      This man is not me. The mighty Flash has no need for a sock puppet!

      He is, quite obviously, the evil alter-ego of Axis and Allies creator and all-round hard man Larry Harris. His mission in life is to make the real Larry look intelligent and knowledgeable.

      Correct. The laws of physics tell us there is matter and antimatter, protons and antiprotons, and positive charges and negative charges. This tells us that if a Larry Harris exists, then there must be a Harry Larris.

      You’re just wrong about one thing. I am the good alter-ego. I design Christian themed board games that promote the ideals of charity and good works.

      Question about navals mines. Am I correct to assume they are they rolled for during the movement phase? So I couldn’t, for example, take an enemy province with a sea port then fight a mine-free naval battle in the adjacent sea zone?

      No offense Garg, that’s some primitive reasoning.

      This is not aimed specifically at you but this is my rant for the last decade of American foreign policy.

      Most people in Muslim nations are just trying to live their lives without be killed by autocratic dictators or Islamists. I have spent a good part of my adult life fighting against some of the poorest people in the world and I honestly can’t say what for. I know they had nothing to do with attacks against America. The guys who planned 9/11 fled Afghanistan years ago, leaving illiterate locals to die for them. There is really nothing honorable or noble about what we did in Iraq and Afghanistan and the last decade have made me realize our foreign policy makes no fucking sense.

      Okay, so we are at war with the Muslims or terrorists or whatever.

      So what are we doing in Syria? Why are we arming Salafist rebels against a secular dictatorship?

      Why do we knowingly allow people who pose security risks into our country?

      What did overthrowing Saddam Hussein accomplish? Iraq isn’t even a strong US ally. It now has a Shiite prime minister with close ties to Iran. Was that really worth trillions of dollars?

      Isn’t it funny how most of our problems with Islamic terrorism come from Saudi backed Wahhabis and Salafists. Guess how many of the 9/11 attackers were Saudi themselves?

      At the end of the day, the War on Terror is nothing more than a sad attempt to find a new foreign enemy now that the Soviet Union is history. How can you wage war against a military concept or a religion with millions of adherents?

      You are more likely to be murdered by black or hispanic gangsters than get killed in an Islamic terrorist attack. Look up the statistics. Yet I don’t see anyone advocating droning the shit out of ghettos. The biggest threat to our lives is our own out of control government and failing economy.

    • RE: Why was there no unit descriptions w/the game?

      My view is limited since my first A&A game was spring 1942. I’ve also tried 42 2nd edition and 41. I’ve noticed some small production errors on all of theme (color misprint on map, wrong starting IPC count, manual typos, etc.) These things are annoying but don’t really detract too much from game play.

      I don’t really like playing overly complicated board games that have to many things to keep track of, so A&A is just perfect for casual gamers like me. I’ve gotten friends who aren’t normally into board games to enjoy them. It was also popular way to kill time while I was deployed.

      For me the worst is 41 which was just a flat unplayable mess for my group. Good source for plastic minifigs though.

      I’m fairly new to the A&A franchise, so I’m not familiar with how they release these things. Is a second edition pretty much guaranteed or does it depend on how well the first edition sells?
