@DoManMacgee Totally agree with your thoughts. I also thought that Russia just needed to do something to throw the CPs off their game. In regards to the 1 Inf, I think its just an annoying move people made so the opponent couldn’t just grab free IPCs, but I’ll check with some of the other players to make sure that rule was understood right.
1914 Chips in Global 1940
-
Not sure if this belongs here or on the G40 board, but I tried using the blue/red chips from A&A 1914 to set up the Global 1940 game and…it worked! Pictures attached.
I just barely had enough light red chips to do the setup, and I had to avoid using chips for 2-3 aircraft stacks. We’ll see if I have enough to carry through the game, but it looks pretty good imo.
-
Neat, but mid game you will run out for sure.
-
I just stole all the white chips from the original A&A game as we had a couple of copies kicking around. I use the whites for the Allies and the greys from all the newer versions for the Axis. Makes it way easier to tell Russia and Italy apart.
-
I’m intending to use:
grey - infantry
white- artillery
red - tanks
blue - fighters
Then I only need one stack per power per region, each with a single infantry on top.

No offense, but is that a little…boring? I mean, half the fun of A&A is seeing all the little different sculpts on the map.
And, if you’re going to do this, at least make artillery red, as it traditionally is indicated on uniforms.
-
Yes, and cavalry in yellow…
I’m limited by the number of chips I have in each colour, don’t have enough red for artillery otherwise I’d agree.
The charm of separate artillery and tank sculpts begins to wear off when you have to maintain separate stacks of each for 4 or 5 powers in a single small western front tt.

A little more expensive…
I’ve actually worked with the guy who runs this site to get stuff shipped here to the U.S., highly recommended.
There are also other companies that sell these chips, I think they’re just called “Mini Poker Chips”

This looks great, if i ever get my hands on a second set of 1914 chips i will DEF be using them for all AA games
They take up so much less space!
not to mention it makes the game look better overall, and new players will less likely confused by different powers
-
What’s the Euro exchange rate? Need it in Sterling, man.
They’re also sold out of all the 1914 stuff everyone is short of.
I’ve been it touch with this site about customised dice for 1914:
