@Eric-Poppleton well I tried it by myself some and it sorta worked. My goal was to get my buddies into the game and try it with them but we’re still in the learning phase-figured it’s only a valid test if they have developed strategies in the normal game
ONLY Axis BBs 2 hit @ start…
-
That’s more like history, right? Germany fudged on the limits set after WWI and Japan just built some big sAs BBs.
What do you think about that?
-
Handfuls of readers w/o a reponse… disappointing!
-
Been trying to respond. Keep getting 'invalid session". Again. I think this is a good rule. As for historical accuracy, I’m not sure if the Bismark was sunk before april 1942. I will try to convince my opponent to use this rule the next time I am axis.

Did a little research. Bismark was sunk may 1941. So unless there were other German BBs which exceeded the limits the rule is not historically accurate as applied to Germany.

i would suggest that all original Allied BBs be one-hit, afterwards be two, and all Axis BBs be two-hit. I can see people wasting their time building battleships because they were two-hit. 8)
-
Works fairly well to me.
However (history wise), I don’t know of any Battleships serving in the Med in 1942 worth 2-hits. Response anyone?
As for the Japanese, the 2-hit BBs fit perfectly with the 2 starting BBs Japan gets. They can represent the Musashi and Yamoto (sp?) Super-Heavy Battleship (largest ever built) used during the war. :)
-
i would rather see two-hit carriers instead, because although i don’t have the history right now, i know that the u.s and japan relied more heavily on carriers and air power than battleships.
-
In my opinion 2-hit carriers would unbalance the game too much.
Any player is a fool to attack to fully stocked carrier (2 ftrs defending at 4 and the carrier defending at 3) without overwhelming force. To make 2 hit carriers would be suicide. -
if you want to go historical, give the japanese 2 hit BB’s, and the german’s a bonus U-Boat fleet off of west europe.
-
GI, I wouldn’t waste my IPCs with BBs. They cannot blitz!
I agree with Teej.
Not a bad idea, M_S.

Well in the PBEM game we’re playing right now, we’re using that 2-hit BB for Axis only rule right now (among other things). I’ll be sure to tell you how that works! :)
-
The problem with you r reasoning is that the Bismarck Gaspee etc. were solitary and as I nderstand it a BB is supposed to simulate a grou p 15-30 large… it was solo (bismark that is)…
-
I usually just see it in terms of a Battle Ship just being a ship, screw simulations. :-?
-
15-30? That’s a rather large number isn’t it? Esp. for battleships. I think TG is right, it’s just a battleship. Also, I would think the group would simulate the other ships with it (destroyer escort, etc.) and that seems wrong as well.
-
Then why should the Axis have an Advantage??? Battleship wise
-
Why not? :-?
-
doesn’t seem realistic give me where it happened??
Axis should have other advantages… -
