What is correct amount for US at the beginning of the game, and after it declares war?  The way it is printed on the manual doesn’t seem to add up correctly.

They start with 17 IP. Without war with Japan they will receive 22 per turn (5 bonus IP for having national objective: Phillipines). As soon as war is declared the IP value of the Western USA is increased from 10 to 50 IP. Very likely, the Phillipines will be conquered as soon as war is declared, so you’ll also lose 7 (2 from the IP value and 5 from the NO).

So does the US Total IPC value increase from 17 to to 57?  That is 2 for Alaska, 2 for Mexico, 1 for the Hawaiian Islands, 2 for the Philippines and 40 for the Western US?
