During a discussion I had with @The_Good_Captain he pointed out that we all have slightly different German openers. I am now curious to know which one could be considered “best”. If you substract the TUV Differential from the Net TUV swing, you get more or less what the TUV swing should have been. Not exactly, as sometimes very good/bad dice in battles result in situations where one side can gain/lose more TUV than they would normally, however it still gives a sense on how good someone’s turn was, if this person made good attacks and made sure his units are not exposed to counter-attacks.
If we look at “After Allied1”, yours would be +59.62. If we look at our previous game, mine would be +64.89. Even though mine is a little higher, they are so close to each other that I would say at first glance that they are equally good. Which is funny because our openers are very different.
(Also in our previous game you made that attack on Finland with negative average TUV so if you didn’t do that my score would have been lower)
One thing I noticed is that you essentially attack more stuff with slighly worse odds, with the same kind of TUV swing as a result. Not sure if that is a good or a bad thing, but it surely looks interesting. I will use your opener in future games to test it. Yours does give room for a possibility to advance into the Middle East which is good.
My Allied strategy includes abandoning this area completely to increase the defense of Moscow, so after this game we’ll see if that’s is actually good to do or not.
