Pretty bad start for the Allies. But that is what happens with dice.
Please adjust any hit casualties as I just took the default.
@barnee i am sorry my marti email is cornelis_urk@live.nl

@barnee yes I used the code from the photo you send in the previous page
@cornelis-post Awesome :) so idk if you’ve played exp on triplea or not but some stuff is edit heavy. Game Notes explain a lot but they need an update.
This only 3rd game actually, so we still figurin it out. All fun and games though. Not in tournament mode :)
@barnee i will talk to victory first to make it work,
now it is getting late.
see ya
Lol, I would be happy to offer you guys some help, if you are getting stuck :)
Online things are easy only when you know how they work!
First of all, you need to select Play By Email, instead of Play By Forum. It seems counterintuitive since you guys are playing by forum, but this option doesn’t work anymore since last year. What you need to do is select PBEM and fill in the fields to get the game going. The only field that is actually important is the MARTI dice server email - to this address, the online dice emails are sent.
The ‘Automatically Send Emails’ field are not important in your case. You use this when you really play by email, and you want to click on a single button and automatically send an email to the addresses in the ‘To’ field, including turn summaries and the save file.
I guess you can just fill in a random email address in that field since it won’t be used in your case, but just to be sure you can fill in your personal address. No need to write the other one’s address.
Alright, when that’s done, and you’ve made sure the map is correct as well as the map options, you are ready to go.
When you do your turn, load the save file, and always click on PBEM. The fields should be filled in automatically. Then, do your turn like normal. At the end of your turn, after the Collect Income phase, you will see a window to the right of your screen popping up.
Now, you can go ahead and save the game. Call the file whatever you like. Then, click on ‘View Turn Summary’. Copy the contents of the window that pops up. Go to your game thread, create a new post and paste the Turn Summary into this post. Lastly, include the save file to your post.
What you’ve essentially done is what Triplea used to do when you click on Post Turn Summary when PBF, but manually. When you try to click on it now, the game will give you an error message. This is now the standard way of playing by Forum.
I hope this helps you guys. @Cornelis-Post no need to wait in a lobby, just wait for Barnee to set the game up and send the game start file to you. Then, follow the procedure I described and post your German turn to this thread.
If you have any questions, let me know!
It’s important to know these player-enforced rules. Everything is stated in the game notes, so you can give that one a read as well, but just highlighting here the most important ones:
Transports need to be selected last as casualty.
Put Edit mode on when doing a combat that includes Paratrooper or U-boat units. What’s the case now is that these units have a first strike roll at ‘1’, and then roll at their normal value when it’s their turn to roll for the remainder of the combat, instead of the ‘3’ on the first round of combat.
When edit mode is on, you can select any number of casualties you want, regardless of the rolls you made. Ignore this first strike roll, and when your paratroopers/u-boats fire, count up the hits manually, keeping in mind the improved attack/defense value of the units.
NOTE: Manually add the ‘Wolfpack’ unit when having three or more U-boats in a sea zone to trigger the bonus.
P.S. @barnee what we could do is remove this first strike ability of these units since we use edit mode for this anyway. In fact, the wolfpack doesn’t need to be included at all as well then. What do you think?
Another option is to use Axisandallies.org dicebot. That tends to be slower but is less punishing when you make a mistake. For Landmines, you must use dice bot (@barnee unless I am mistaken here?)
You have two placement phases - one for units like Waffen units, US marines, etc that are active immediately- and one for your normal units. Don’t place normal stuff like tanks or infantry in the first placement phase.
Use edit to move paratroopers over enemy territory and for LCVs.
When an Army is active, you should edit a new army-leading unit depending on the units it commands. Barnee should let you know more about this since I don’t know exactly what army-leading unit commands what.
@victoryfirst all good points Victory and thanks for the help on setting up the game. I will try again in a bit. I was at the end of my shift yesterday, so once I get my brain working, will take another shot at it :)
Yea I think I’m gonna leave the first strike in case people don’t want to use edit, it gives them another option.
@victoryfirst wwtf I tried a gmail account and i get the same error when hitting test email
Hmm, try filling in Email Username your email address instead of your username, so add @gmail.com behind it. I had this error too and I believe it gets fixed once you fill in your email address instead.
@victoryfirst sadly, that didn’t work either.
Very strange! Why do these things don’t just work out properly lol.
Are you sure the email username you filled in is the one you use for Axis&Allies.org?
Is the password correct?
Don’t know if it will solve the problem but you have to fill in your own dice server address in the To field, and the other person’s one in the Cc field. Right now you have them swapped.
I tried setting up the game myself, using your guy’s email addresses for the dice servers, and mine for the Automatically send email stuff, and it worked :)
The game booted up for me, so Cornelis can download this and do his turn using the procedure I described, and if everything is good it should work out.
