Confirmed with TGC. That sub had to fight to the death since there was no retreat option.
L23 OOB Al3xanderTheGr8 (X) vs Booper (L+38)
-
@al3xanderthegr8 Not sub, I would never keep a sub. I meant I would keep a destroyer, so you can’t have a sneak attack. I realize that may have been confusing.
-
Yep, I think I got it correct, my subs never got a sneak attack. Finally some luck on the US side in this battle, really needed it!

Oops, got too excited, and didn’t finish Non-Coms for UK. Updated here.

@booper GG man, I cant recover from my blunder in Europe.
-
GG, well played. The Major in Romania was a great move, I thought you were going to have to retreat all the way back to close to Germany with your stack. If you retreat to Romania and drop 10 artillery there, it makes it very costly for Russia to keep advancing. I think there was still a lot of game left to be played, but with the Allies having stabilized and holding onto an income advantage, it was probably just a matter of time. Enjoyed it!
-
@booper
Yea, I mean I could have gone into turtle mode and hoped you’d make a big mistake but I’d rather just end that one and start a new one if you want. I really messed up in Europe with those German tanks. I tried to grab too much too fast instead of focusing on using my early advantage to take Moscow. I got greedy. Also, this is the first game I’ve played with the bid being so high. I underestimated the impact that would have. -
Yep, makes sense.
Yeah, the 38 bid looks to actually be fairly typical in OOB. I see some matches with Allies at 58-60 level, and the Axis actually won in several of those cases!
Only fair I offer you back the same terms - if you want to take Allies at 38 OOB, or if you prefer another crack playing Axis. I’m good either way if you want to get another game going.
Could also try out Balanced Mod, where the bids are much more modest.
-
@booper Lets do it. I’ll take Allies for the same bid. I started a new thread.
