Hi @cloud7707 you could try adding an AA Gun to china instead. I know Oztea did it for his Global mods and i thought it worked well fwiw :)

I hear that CMDR Jen has updated the AAre enhanced rules to work with AA50. Could anyone point them out for me please?
Thanks a lot :)

Well….
I wouldn’t say that Jens house rules were created through the same creative process that went into AARe, so don’t expect a game that is near as polished as AARe. AARe was a group-think product with exceptional testers ensuring the rules were well balanced.
Jen’s house rules are a mix of the Revised National Advantage (do those exist in AA50?) and other tweaks. Personally, I think guarenteed instant weapons would ruin ANY rules set…
Also (before the shouting starts from Jen) her house rules are not endorsed by many of the old AARe clan.
And along those lines, I wouldn’t label her house rules as AA50e or AA50 Enhanced
(although she’ll be proud to tell you that she has a patent on the “Enhanced” name or some other legalese like that).Call them whatever you want, her house rules are not AA50e in my eyes.

AA50 is still being hotly debated as to axis vs. allied balance.
More play testing is needed from the Out Of Box (OOB) rules and the Optional Rules to see the direction this game is going in terms of balance.
Cousin Joe (original AARe brain) has started some threads, but it is too early yet for Enhanced AA50.

OK thanks for your input :)

can someone at least provide a link to Jen’s rules?
I keep hearing that they need playtested, i wouldnt mind running some games with them, if I could just get my hands on them. -
Ask and you shall receive: these can be found in the House Rule Forum, it takes a while to find things but it helps to know where to look.

General Chang, I hope you know what you re-started! There’s a big debate on this (very heated & interesting). You can see the debates in the same forum.

Whoops :P
I just like rule heavy war games and find AA50 a bit lacking. Very enjoyable… but a bit lacking.
Most of it is probably down to player skill but KGF is the only option.

Here they are.
Obviously, I couldn’t get all the same people who worked on AARe to assist with AAR:50 because some of them didnt have contact information, some didnt want to help because they were busy, and some only replied with “I don’t like it.” instead of giving constructive criticism, however, it was play tested by roughly 30-50 people through numerous games.
I won’t say it’s 100% complete, but I won’t say that AA50 is 100% complete either, they’re still putting out hot patches to the game like escorts and closed dardenelles.
But here’s what we have gotten, it’s nearly identical to AARe. Some of the names have been changed so that the AARe rules point to the right territories, since things like Western Europe is now called France and there’s new territories like Bulgaria, NW Europe, etc. We also had to account for things like China/Italy being their own nation, new naval unit introduced, etc. So there’s some changes, which is to be expected, but all in all, the core of the AARe game has not changed at all.
Just a note: it’s color coded so you can find what is different faster. Also, it’s in MS Word 1997-2003 format for older computers. If you need me too, I can convert it and send it to you as a PDF.

OK Comd Jen, thanks for the rules… now I won’t need a PhD, two lawyers and a team of bookkeepers to follow this, will I?
-
hi jen, thanks for the rules. I have a few questions though.
-
How does rolling for research work now? Do you just pick a tech and if you roll a 6 you get it?
-
does Italy place their afrika corps every round?
-
Do you place 2 free infantry every turn for mech inf? And what does 1. Borrowed from American National Advantage mean as the usa do not have this advantage
-
The italian advantage ii. +5 IPC if Axis controls: Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Sudan, Italian Africa, Gibraltar, Balkans, Algeria/Morocco and no enemy SURFACE ships are in SZ 13, 14, 15 or 16. isnt this the same as the regular no ? and where is Italian africa?
Thanks :)

This is for Jen, or anyone else who wants to comment. Just a note about Joint Strike. Three things come to mind.
-
In AA50 if playing w/NO’s UK & USA get a $5 bonus for France. You can also cost the axis Italy & Germany there $5 NO by taking it and keeping it. This is now a bigger swing in production then it use to be. Allowing a J.S. could be more a game changer then before, and it was huge back then.
-
With Italy going between UK & US now Joint strike might not be so great. Say UK calls it then Italy moves 8 units into France. You still have to go through with it on US turn (right). It could end up backfiring. Where before the only way axis could def it was if Jap could fly in some air.
-
Waiting for a J. S. build up could also cost the allies if they have an opportunity to start trading France early and don’t take it (NO’s). This happened to me. Germany left it weak but I didn’t take it because in the back of my head was the thought “its a one time only deal” So buy not trading France early it cost me $.
I think J.S. fit the game in revised, but not so much now. You should rethink it with Italy going between now and the extra bonus you can get w/France. It might need some more tweaks.

So why isn’t this a sticky like the rest of the rule sets?
-
hi jen, thanks for the rules. I have a few questions though.
- How does rolling for research work now? Do you just pick a tech and if you roll a 6 you get it?
Yes, technology works the same as it did in Revised, but with the 4:6 rule as in AARe. It makes it a more cost effective choice since you’ll never end up with one you cannot use - especially helpful to Italy and Russia, but also to the other nations.
- does Italy place their afrika corps every round?
No, it’s just like before. You get the units on the round you get it.
- Do you place 2 free infantry every turn for mech inf? And what does 1. Borrowed from American National Advantage mean as the usa do not have this advantage
Again, it’s just the round you get it. And yes, if something is “borrowed from” it means that it was a rule for that nation at one time that is now being applied to all nations to account for the advantage being turned into a technology from revised to anniversary.
- The italian advantage ii.
Italian East Africa is that spur sticking out into the Red Sea to the right of Egypt/Sudan. (It is directly south of Sudan on the map.)
No, it is not the same since Italy now needs more territories and the entire sea, instead of just three. Also, France is not a requirement for Italy to have this NO.
Thanks :)
You’re welcome.
Wild Bill:
Yes, joint strike can be absolutely devastating to the axis forces if and when it occurs, but it is designed to be. Furthermore, if the allies give up taking it, that means the axis could defend it with less and put more pressure on Russia. It’s a game of weighing the odds and this is a strategic decision - do I force Italy/Germany to defend France early and give up Joint Strike, or do I let them move more towards Russia so I can have a joint strike later? It’s all how you think your opponent will play, will he mass defenders to stop you, or will he ignore it in hopes you take it then mass defenders?
