  • A des is better, if you can afford it, but I’d say the sub is sufficient to deter an attack with only 2 subs.

    Let me beat on this for a minute. Gotta say, looks fantastic.

    fig Scotland (10) preserves fleet in 111. Sea Lion prevent
    fig Moscow (10) Can be used right away for Pac VC prevent. And possibly Moscow prevent.
    fig Stalingrad (10) ditto above.
    inf Yunnan (3) Pac VC prevent.
    art Szechwan (4) Pac VC prevent. All of these are also preventing economic victory.
    sub z98 (6) preserves Brit units by strengthening Taranto, effecting Italian economic expansion.
    sub z106 (6) Still not convinced about this. If enemy doesn’t go for 111, this sz is going to be attacked by 3 subs. Could help prevent London.
    art Sudan (4) economic prevent. Early settlement of the Africa question helps Moscow prevent or Pac VC prevent.
    tank Cairo (6) see above regarding Africa.
    sub z91 (6) Economic prevent if used against Italy. London prevent if used against Bismarck.
    inf Alexandria (3) Should be an artillery I think. See above about early Africa.

    Two options: I see. 1. Knock two artilleries down to infantry and buy a destroyer for 106. He’s got to use those subs. 2. an infantry in Gibraltar and an infantry in London. What do you think Trulpen?

    Actually, I’d exchange the tank for a mech instead, I think, and put the des in z91. However, there was 1 IPC left and then I’d exchange the chinese art for and inf. Think that’s actually better, since the plan is to get China art anyway and if J doesn’t crush Yunnan J1-3 they will build enough art on their own anyway.

    The beauty of placing a sub in z106 is that G would have to go in with 3 subs in order to secure it, although 2 might still suffice, but it can dive if no enemy des are present. The subs left are then rather easily sunk on UK1 with the help of the bomber, cruiser and sub.

    Haven’t looked, but what you mainly want is to have as much impact on the board as early as possible rather than a specific nation trumping number own units.


  • @trulpen there is a way that seems right to a man but it only leads to death. The real question is: is the devil you don’t know worse than the devil you know.

    We re all choosing to blunt the axis attack and enhance the British attacks. The simple fact is: we’ve been playing with those challenges for years. Drop 69 into Russia and Moscow will not fall turn 6 or 7 or 8. Sea lion will be a long that must be tried but will probably fail.

    But I m on a team and committed to foiling g1j1

  • The bid was very impactful at preserving one of the Atlantic fleets and guarenteeing the Med. I think that could have been accomplished much cheaper with just a fighter in Scotland and the sub, but overall not bad.

    The 15 PUs spent in Russia will help protect Moscow from falling on G6, but long-term I don’t think they will be that impactful. Not a waste, but not giving me much scare as the Axis.

    I will have to see how the China bid affects my Japanese strategy. So much will depend on the dice rolls on the first turn. I personally would have been much more scared if you had a large number of Russian planes that could have flown over on R1 and guaranteed no Japanese capture of Yunnan on J2. Trulpen’s bid was much more impactful than what you ended up with.

  • @arthur-bomber-harris I’ve never done it and he literally said he wasn’t great at oob. I personally don’t think that’s true, but it didn’t give me enough confidence to go out on a limb. Yeah the Russian part had to be enough to help bit not enough to deter Barbarossa.

  • Calling squirecam, no limit, trulpen, world. should I scramble? I think I should scramble into 109 with both Scotland and London fighters. 6 vs 6 with me throwing 2 pips more. Probably 55/45 my favor and the transport is saved in a draw. Take the Scottish and French as casualties first. My losses would be fractionally more expensive since my first loss is 2 ipcs more expensive. My vote would be to scramble out of both air bases into 109 and charge the pilots to shoot straight and pray a blessing on them.

    the cleverist spin I can put on this is that he is attempting to blunt the English attack on 97, betting on even odds.
