@panzerbaguette I’m with Delaja , a status of war between countries prior to the current Japanese turn nullifies the Japanese surprise strike ability between those nations. That’s how our group plays it and I feel it should be played. The surprise strike is meant to be an out of nowhere we were previously at peace but not we are being attack by great surprise !
Italian campaign in Abyssinia clarification
-
@panzerbaguette Interesting! You have persuaded me that it is not a settled issue and requires clarification (exactly as you titled the thread, Pazerbaguette!). 8 ) I’ll add this to the FAQ.
-
I would say they can not attack It. Somaliland as the rules specify that they only attack Eritrea.
-
@insanehoshi It says thay can. Not that they only can.
-
Errata up:
"Remove the sentence: ‘Abyssinian forces can attack Eritrea.’” -
@trig Nice, thank you for your answer! Glad I helped improve the game.

Can I have a little help? So can Italian planes from Cyrenaica and Tripolitania fly over the Suez Canal for the war in Abyssinia? I must mention that Italy and Britain were neutral towards each other at that time. And the rule says that air units are allowed to fly over neutral straits but not neutral canal. In other words; does the Italian player have planes from North Africa available for the Abyssinian campaign or not? And can an Italian pass with ships to the Red Sea through Suez when he is not at war with Britain?
-
@hms-serapis You can’t fly over a neutral canal without the authorization of the country, so planes from North Africa won’t be able to join combat in Abyssinia, unless you bring them by naval transport, which lead to your second question, yes ships can go through the canal. Great-Britain can deny the access only if you’re at war with them, but as long as you’re not, you can use it.
-
@panzerbaguette Yup you are correct.
@HMS-Serapis
Keep in mind you can stick a plane on a naval transport, i missed this when i started playing. -
Thank you. That’s what I thought, but I needed confirmation.

@panzerbaguette @insaneHoshi @HMS-Serapis
Note that you cannot fly over the canal at all. It is in a land zone, and you cannot move through a neutral land zone. Only a friendly or hostile one.
