Sorry for the slow play … couldn’t make up my mind when I first looked at the map.
I don’t really see any way for the Axis to break out of the Allied strangle in either theatre. Are you seeing it any different? (if not, I should probably surrender)
I am guessing I need to play a lot more BM3 before I really understand how the early game works now.

I think part of the problem, is that I tend to play Axis reactively … trying to keep multiple options open and waiting for an Allied mistake. And that’s probably never going to work against you :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

Well, I am comfortable with my position and I agree that the Axis have a hard time from here. I sometimes underestimated the power of the Axis in the long run and had games I was too confident with my Allied position and then got surprised by the power of Axis in the midgame.
To answer your question: It would probably not entirely ridiculous to resign at this point but on the other hand, this would be a rather early time point if I compare this with other games I played. Resigning now would be a very little surprise and I would not have expected it at this point.

Not looking at the board so perhaps it is hopeless but at the same time it is very early.
If axis are behind and with JDOW being a strong player, one thing you can do is take advantage of the fact that he probably feels very comfortable in his position and as such is less likely to take any risky attacks (risky means differnt things in different situations). This works much better as allies, but still as axis you could play more aggressively. That doesnt have to mean taking hopeless battles, but instead you can invite the allies to take chances. Instead of defending positions to say a 10% threshold, you can try defending them to 70% or even worse (meaning JDOW has 70% odds) and force JDOW to take a risk. JDOW will probably have to defend things to a very high degree so as not to give you an out.
I doubt in normal situations you would give allies 70-80% odds at Berlin, but if you are so far behind that you are considering resigning already, then you should try it. JDOW might not be willing to take even an 80% shot at berlin if the thinks that 20% chance of disaster could bring the axis back. So you might find that you can be agressive in a different way and force your opponent to either let you get away with it or take some risk that could give you an out. Do that enough and you might start to make something happen. On the flip side, he will probably overdefend things so as not to give you a chance to let dice flip the script.
And if you give him 80% at berlin and he jumps on it and wins then you are in the same position you would be if you just resign.

Something common to most of the top players it seems - probably more than coincidence.
When you are ahead, get farther ahead. Do your best not to let MARTI determine the outcome.

I am guessing I need to play a lot more BM3 before I really understand how the early game works now.
I have to say, my early game as Axis does not really differ in vanilla vs BM3, the strategy is always the same: KILL KILL KILL Russia and play hard on India (without making weird sacrifices) and keep the Chinese in check. (bomb them if they become too bold stacking Sze)
