I know aircraft can retreat seperately - for example, in an amphibious assault.
BUT, Can Aircraft retreat seperately in a naval battle? Say if I only have attacking subs left? And I don’t want to lose planes? OR could by subs just simply submerge - as my planes retreat?

I think the only time anything can retreat separately is with an amphibious invasion.
If you only have attacking subs and planes, the subs could submerge (assuming no enemy destroyer) but the planes would have to wait one round before retreating.
