assumed no scramble in 97. Japanese fleet is starting to come back. Not looking too shabby.
-
didnt see the dd in 42. Otherwise I would have sent a sub and the rest of my air there. I dont really care but if you dont care then just roll defense to see if my sub would live.
-
(8 ftr 1 tac 1 sub vs 1 dd).
If you arent ok with that, then I want to keep my us sub in 80 instead of moving it to 39.

Oh, I do care very much about having my des, but it’s logical that you attack it, so of course I’ll allow it. I’ll set up a ghost battle with Italy.

Actually I might have wanted a full scramble there. Invested 8 in repairs and 15 in an ab. Could scramble 6 figs.
It’s not completely evident. The calc says G would lose some 20 TUV on it, but if the subs disappear, it’s about the same in convoy disruption anyway. They’re a real nuiscance.
I’ll have a think on it (N.B. not decided yet).
If I decide upon a scramble, I’ll roll the defense dice manually, select causalties (which should be very evident in this order: sub, fig, sb) and notify the result. Then you can decide if you wanted to press on to kill off all the air.
-
Depending on an eventual outcome, you may also change the position of UK subs in the area.
-
Trading German air for anything is an absolute win, particularly for subs. Have at it. Id fight to death no matter what. But yeah, I would keep the UK subs there if you scrambled but after you look at your position I highly doubt you will.

I know. Still, I find the decision a bit tricky. After the battle US likely lost some air, which is also important, but yeah, G would have 4 fig, 3 tac left. Wouldn’t feel so good.
-
The question is rather then “do I feel lucky, punk?”. But maybe this is still not the time for desperados…
-
Sorry to assume, sure it feels tempting after seeing a bad roll. And if you are feeling desperate (reasonable) then it might seem like a good idea but a smaller German air force is worth any cost, particularly us subs and air. But yeah take your time and do whatever. I suppose if I completely whiffed round 2 I might retreat round 3.
-
Nah, you’re right. If I was really lucky, it’d be worth it, but there’s too much risk involved. Think it was a pretty close call, but there’ll be no scramble.

Tried not to take that into account. After reflecting on it I realize your argument is correct. Assuming is ok.
How do you think a situation with scramble option should be handled? Keep rolled dice, or re-roll the full battle if the assumption was wrong?
-
I dunno, if I had thought there was a chance you would scramble I would have waited. I don’t know what the official rule would be but id probably say keep what’s been rolled. Gives an advantage to the scrambler but the other person could have just waited and avoided the situation.
-
Is it ok if I don’t care so much about italian NCM, but adjust along with the G NCM?
-
Yeah that’s fine. No German combat moves I’m worried about affecting things too much.

Think that would be the ruling, but if we’re in agreement, then no ruling is necessary. I’d say that it’s actually more fair to re-roll, since the defender shouldn’t be aware of the dice. And why you didn’t wait was because 6-8 h of likely unnecessary prolongation.
-
Yeah, I agree but I guess that is something that should be discussed beforehand. Something I probably will discuss in fact in the future. But knowing it was middle of night I didn’t want to wait since I had time. But that’s something easier to discuss before the fact and simple enough to ask at the beginning.
-
Ok I’m out. Have fun with Germany. Looks tricky to me
