Has anyone run into issues with getting items with these maps on them printed? Isn’t the work copyrighted? Or have they given folks permissions to print them?
I think you’d only run into trouble if you tried to sell them after printing them.

That makes sense. Some printers (like The Game Crafter), won’t let you print things if you don’t have permissions to use any of the art…and this map being created from the real map meant I might not be able to print it. I modified the coloring slightly so I could do an overlay and it made it through…its a bummer though that I would have to make my own version of the map to sell prints. Oh well. (I made a custom map based objective tracker for AA50).

We have to be careful about that, these maps could be considered copyright infringement, and it’s my mediafire account that’s sharing these files. I’m not against solutions to better inform our community about them, but I don’t want to attract the fuzz either.

Rumor has it that as long as it’s free, “they” are okay with it. Also, the worse that would happen is a take down notice.

Grass Hopper makes a good point. This map is copyrighted by Axis and Allies. The AE map I submitted isn’t mine, that is why I offered this freely on here. I spun the text around and morphed the land masses which was a lot of work but I enjoyed doing it. I don’t think I crossed any lines. Throwing a copyright on a modification and selling it would probably get you a legal phone call. This map is useless without owning the game.
Does anyone have contact with the publishers and have them express their views on all these maps?

It might be a good idea to just link to my thread so you’re always pointing to the most recent version. @Young-Grasshopper I’m in Canada. Anyone know of an inexpensive online printer that can do an Axis and Allies Global Map. I don’t want any US links as the shipping and customs triples the costs.

Thanks. My brother and I are playing ‘social distancing style’ so we’re looking to get him a map for his house and supplement it with the 100’s of pieces that I have across all the game variations! Then we’ll use the new map for my game table once this pandemic ends.
