I would love this map! I specifically got on here today to see if there was one available…

RE: Ambilzi & Grasshopper's 1940 Global Map (Video Added)
Young Grasshopper,
This is amazing! Great work! I have 4’x8’ of sheet metal on my office wall where I have a 6’x3’ 1942 map up (laminated, pieces magnetized) for vertical game play. Would love to have a Global Version up on the wall as well. Quick question - do you have this in photoshop where you can still remove the layers of the charts you added? I would love to print a copy with just the map and I can separately print the charts and have them off to the side on my wall. I like the “prettiness” of having just the map on the wall and the IPC chart along the bottom is the only chart I would keep. I can “delete” them myself in photoshop but it’d be nice to have the original water textures / zone lines.
Let me know and thank you for sharing this file! Wonderful.

RE: A&A Anniversary complete Piece Count
Wow - huge help - Thank you! And I feel like an idiot because I have that rulebook already downloaded and never noticed they were all in there. Thanks!

RE: A&A Anniversary complete Piece Count
Hey - thanks, that does help. I’m curious how the piece count compares to the newer games / the italy / china piece counts in particular. I had a really hard time finding it too…

A&A Anniversary complete Piece Count
Hey all. I have searched the internet to no avail. Who can help me get a complete piece count for the Anniversary edition. How many specific units per country, etc. I know it’s out there somewhere.
Thanks!

RE: IL's New Global 1940 map file…
Hey IL - did you ever make those sea zone corrections? Thanks!

RE: IL's New Global 1940 map file…
Great! Looking forward to it.

RE: IL's New Global 1940 map file…
IL - awesome map. Preparing to print, quick question. When I opened in Photoshop the sea color is a much darker blue in the Pacific than the Europe map. Do I have the right files? I’ll be working to match them up unless I am doing something wrong. Thanks!

Round 16 - Pointless Game Cotinuation Question
Hello A&A Experts,
So I’m on Round 16 in a 1942 Game - Due to some bad Russia rolling the game was really over on round 3 but I keep playing because I can’t stand losing to my friend (that was previously 0-5 against me). Anyway, here’s the scenario. I lost Russia and had a huge UK navy so when it was clear that Germany was going to take U.K., I retreated the entire Navy & men to the Pacifc where I planned one last dual U.S. /U.K. strike to take Japan. It’s about to succeed but my opponent wisely took out my U.S. fleet so when I take Japan I will take it with U.K. … and U.K. lost it’s capital.
So does this just mean that U.K. would put the Japan Money in the bank (and can’t spend it) and then if Japan takes it back it get’s the money right back? If I held it (which I think I can for one turn) I assume U.K. cannot build in Japan on the following turn because of losing the capital? Correct?
Man, I wish I could have taken it with the U.S. because then it would have been U.S. versus Germany - a very interesting game that I might have been able to come back on.

Tank Question / Non-Combat Question
Hello - after so many games I was surprised a scenario came up that I wasn’t sure about… here it goes:
I understand how blitzing works and I understand that a tank can move 2 spaces in non-combat through friendly / occupied territories (if it did not engage in combat).
I also know that land forces that were not used in battle can reinforce newly taken territories. Here’s the scenario:
Let’s say I have Tanks in Eastern Europe but I don’t use them in battle. Then I am able to conquer both Ukraine S.S.R. and the Caucasus. Can I move my Tanks in Eastern Europe through Ukraine (a newly taken territory) and reinforce the Caucasus (also newly taken).
This was a neat little trick that came up because if the tanks engaged in battle they wouldn’t be able to reinforce the Caucasus.
Anyway, we decided that this was fine but I just wanted to confirm that this movement is legal… I couldn’t find any other messages about it.
Thanks!

RE: 1942 Rule Clarifications
No.
You have to build them at factories
Thanks… what about the first question? : ) …oh, I guess the “No” was for that.

1942 Rule Clarifications
I have a couple of questions for 1942:
#1. If a friendly capitol is captured, then the other friendly territories, when liberated, are then controlled by the liberator (until the capitol is liberated). However, can you just “take control” of a friendly territory that has not been captured? For example, U.K. is captured, can U.S. just take advantage of Canada’s income? I assume no, but then again, it would make sense… the Canadian IPC’s wouldn’t just disappear.
#2. I tried to find this in the rule book. When you build anti-air units, can you erect them anywhere? Or do they have to be built at a factory and moved?
Thanks.

RE: Mega error with the global map! Mayday! Mayday!
This is making less and less sense to me. If I had to guess why this error is so pronounced I would say (this is pure speculation):
-
The pacific map was developed 1st. The main objectiv was to give the feeling of lots of sea zones because the Pacific is huge. One way to obtain this effect was printing North America smaller on the map.
-
When developing Europe, a brilliant idea came to reality - increasing the size of Mediterrain Sea with two rows of sea zones instead of one. This allows much more deph in naval battles in Mediterain. The problem was that this to be achieved Africa had to went down on the map and, consequenttly, North America had also to went down on the map. The consequence is that Western America and the sea spaces in AAP40 do not fit with with Central America and sea spaces in AAE40.
That sounds about right… I suppose it won’t affect game-play - but man, it looks really bad. And I was looking forward to buying these games and NOT having to print out my own map. Oh well… I’ll be waiting for someone to fix it (IP).

RE: My review copy of Axis & Allies Europe 1940 has arrived
Looks awesome - but what’s the deal with the U.S. / sea zones not lining up on the maps… am I just imagining that?

@Imperious:
i will check
Thanks, I anxiously await your findings.

RE: AA 50 setup
@Imperious:
just copy/paste the link in the browser and it will work
I.L. - sorry to bother you about this. I copied / pasted the AA50 Supreme map link and it is in fact the 1939 Edition map that you created. Is this what is supposed to be under the AA50 Supreme link? Again, I’m trying to find an identical copy of the AA50 Map with the updated graphics.

Okay, I copied and pasted the following link: AA50: Supreme map “http://www.mediafire.com/?eybd4yz5gtd” …the link says “AA50 1939 Final.pdf” is that the right link? …it seems to be the same file / file size as the AA50 1939 map (Final) link. Just asking : )

RE: AA 50 setup
Imperious Leader - I downloaded and printed your 1942 Supreme Map (6ft/3ft) and have enjoyed it thoroughly (thank you). I particularly like the backgrounds / lines etc. I also downloaded your “AA50HE Phase 1 Final Map with charts Malta and Azores last copy.pdf” map, and I believe this is the same map as the Anniversary Edition - but I don’t like the graphics as much as your 1942 Supreme Edition. Anyway, so then I saw your file listed “AA50 Supreme Map” but the link is to “AA50 1939 Final.pdf”…. which is (I believe) an expanded version of the game. So, is that link messed up? I would really like to get the AA50 map that looks like the original if you have it. Thanks.

Can't search Forums…?
Last year I feel in love with A&A and have been checking this website often… and finally I thought, “this would be easier if I could search the topics in the forum.” So, I registered but now it says, “error, can’t search topics in this forum.” Can anyone help? Thanks.
