What made you try that?
Well, sometimes I get a little carried away, and the inner me cries out STOP….

Come on! It’s funny as hell!
LOL
Has anyone else ever tried to report their own post to a moderator? Try it! :-D
Darth’s comments on TripleA from another Thread
Well, I have to admit TripleA is pretty cool. :-D
I can bang out turns in about 10 min or less.
I’m still getting used to a few things but it is really easy to use.
@ncscswitch:
Germany can actually have far more FIGs on that attack. 4 would be almost “standard” palcement in Western, and possibly up to all 6 FIGs and the BOM.
Yep. Particularly with the build of 5 trn you gotta believe Germany plans on threatening UK with the max on G2 so they’re all going to be in Western.
Also, if you landed the russian fighters in Moscow on R1 you can fly them to UK on R2 to help defend….you’ll probably only do this if you sniff out the Axis plans ahead of time - in fact if the russian fighters are in Moscow you probably shouldn’t be buying baltic trans on G1…
As for KJF, I’ve not really successfully pulled it off. Darth likes to talk about it, so I assume he’s done it. The thing to remember is that you don’t necessarily need a fleet that can destroy the japanese fleet. You just need a fleet that can defend against the japanese fleet. Island hopping is the key here. But with the US focusing on the Pacific (and maybe a little bit on the atlantic) Germany is going to get large, so you will probably not hold West Russia with the Allies, but the benefit would be that japan would probably be too busy with the US to really threaten Caucasus. Just be careful with Russia because if she gets behind the 8 ball, help is a long way away (maybe the UK through ARC).
Fox,
Yes you can use it if your opponent doesn’t. Your opponent will be responsible for updating your moves on their map, and you’ll be responsible for updating their moves on TripleA. For your opponents combat resolution in TripleA, you will go to EDIT mode and edit in your opponents dice rolls.
To see it in action, check out this thread between Frood and NCSCSwitch. Frood was using TripleA and Switch was using a physical board:
I still have Sens in 7 too. Ottawa has to be a little more careful on defense. I tell you though those Ducks are tough and they have skillz too. It’ll be a helluva series.
The answer is no.
Now if there is still German fleet left at the beginning of Germany’s turn, that’s where it gets interesting!
I would suggest what Jermo suggests. Download the software again from the manufacturer’s website, blow away your old install and reinstall again.
Yes. Much has been written on this over at the Yahoo Groups. Check it out!
Right. Forgot about the inf in MAN. I wouldn’t put 2 inf there though. One is enough IMO to prevent an R1 and Germany needs the help more.
When I click to read “New” messages in a thread it doesn’t work. It always brings me to the first message in the thread.
Much faster after the upgrade!
Hey Dave, what is up with your signature?
PAfr is fun to play. I would put it all in LIB. You can always move it back to ALG on G1 non combat moves if you want to.
It does leave the motherland pretty empty, so you might want to consider putting a few inf in EEU just to be safe. You should still have enough to take and hold EGY through UK1.
Not quite right.
eg.
4 subs attack 1 sub 1 des 1 bb
First round:
Pre-emptive fire:
3 attacking subs roll 1,2,2 (3 hits)
1 defending sub rolls 1 (1 hits)
Remaining defender rolls: des rolls 2, bb rolls 5 (1 hit)
attacker casualties: 1 sub
Second Round:
1 sub vs. 1 bb
Pre-emptive fire:
1 attacking sub rolls 2 (1 hit)
Final result: Attacker clears seazone with 1 sub remaining.
Now who are you going to believe? Your Economics Teacher, or some random poster on an axis and allies board (who already admitted Economics was not a strength) :-D
Yes that calculation is correct, but I don’t think your conclusion is correct. $2.15 SHOULD buy you as many pancakes as $1.35 did. But it doesn’t because pancakes now cost $3.75.
But from the question it sounded like they wanted to compare in 1986 dollars, while you are comparing in 2007 dollars. (It said to adjust the 2007 price for inflation, you adjusted the 1986 price for inflation).
Your calculation of
@ieatcrayons:
If inflation is 59%, multiply the 1986 price (1.35) by (.59), which gives us roughly (.80 cents). (This is all from memory so my number may be off). So, adding 80 cents to 1.35 gives us $2.15
Is the same as 1.35 x 1.59 = 2.15
But to adjust the 2007 price for inflation you have to go the other way (ie. 3.75 / 1.59). Like I posted:
Wow I’m really not very strong in economics, but I’ll take a shot anyway.
If inflation is 59% it’s 1.59
2007 price of $3.75 / 1.59 => 1986 price of $2.36Therefore the “real” price of pancakes has increased from $1.35 to $2.36, after adjusting for inflation.
The zoom-out feature is already implemented in the latest version (perhaps the unstable version) on sourceforge. When edit mode is enabled I will be adding visual cues to the (non)combat move phases and any other affected phases (in the form of a map overlay graphic) that remind you that you are in edit mode. I’m sure everything will become more intuitive once the edit feature is finished. I will also likely add a section in the Help for edit mode.
Just for fun I d/l the new stable tripleA (0.9.0.2) from triplea.sourceforge.net and gave the zoom feature a whirl. Gamer, I think you will like this new feature VERY MUCH. It is very flexible, you just punch in whatever percentage you want to zoom to and voila. I think shrinking it to 50-60% of normal will solve these problems (I would also recommend increasing the unit size when zooming out).
Now we just wait for the TripleA god to add the PBEM features to the project so we can use the new zoom
