Thanks, that’s what I thought. If Japan directly attacks a Mongolian territory while it is a strict neutral, the Mongolian territories will not flip to Russian control, but they will go pro-allies along with all other strict neutrals, correct?

Mongolia
Germany attacks Spain causing all neutrals to go pro-allies. This includes Mongolian territories correct? Would this allow Russia to move land units into the Mongolian territories during non-combat movements and capture the territories?

RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)
Let’s say a minor IC gets upgraded to a major IC. Can you place more than 3 units on the same turn it gets upgraded?
And thanks Boldfresh and Gamerman01 for the answer to my Japan major IC in China question.

Is Japan allowed to build a major IC in a territory originally controlled by Japan but marked with a Chinese national symbol i.e. (Manchuria)

I think it makes sense that you should be able to blitz through unfriendly and true neutrals on a combat move. It’s an attack, just as with hostile territories. I just don’t see any evidence of this either way in the rulebook. Do you have a reference for this?
Look at these two rules out of the AAG40.2 rulebook:
Tanks, Mechanized Infantry, and BlitzingA tank can “blitz” by moving through an unoccupied hostile territory as the first part of a move that can end in a
friendly or hostile territory.Territories
All territories exist in one of three conditions:
Friendly: Controlled by you or a friendly power.
Hostile: Controlled by a power with which you are at war.
Neutral: Not controlled by any power, or controlled by a power on the other side with which you are not yet at warMy blitzing question is two part:
-
Where on this spectrum do unfriendly and friendly neutrals fall? You can’t blitz through friendly neutrals. That is clearly stated. My understanding was that until an enemy power that was at war activated an unfriendly neutral by moving land units into it, the territory was neutral because it was not controlled by any power. Are unfriendly neutrals to be considered hostile territories before activation by an enemy power at war? Or are they neutral until the side they are sympathetic to declare war?

Where’s the clarification for blitzing in regards to neutral territories?

Is blitzing through unfriendly neutrals with no standing army units allowed?
i.e. Italian tank blitzes from Iraq through NW Persia into Persia

Milton Bradley didn’t “give up on” A&A. Milton Bradley is owned by Hasbro. When Hasbro also bought Avalon Hill, it transferred A&A over to that company, seeing it as a better fit. Later, Hasbro bought Wizards of the Coast and put Avalon Hill under it.
I thought Milton Bradley decided to discontinue it and Avalon Hill picked it up before they were bought by Hasbro. I’m just glad somebody decided to keep producing the game and letting it evolve.

RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)
There seems to be a pattern emerging here. Apparently only patrons (and other special people ) have the search button enabled.
This certainly does not inspire me to make any sort of donation. Otherwise, I really do dig the site. I can’t believe that such a place exists where so many enthusiasts of a game that Milton Bradley gave up on can interact with each other. The access to information and actual people who talk to the designer of the game is an awesome resource for a game that features so many possibilities and variables that good rules clarity and boundaries is a must. The turnaround time on responses is lightning quick, too.
I won’t use the rules FAQ to talk about this anymore. If anyone knows the answer to the mystery of the missing search button please message me.

RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)
Have you tried using the search in the toolbar above the Google search? You must be logged in to see it.
This one works very well. You can select only the G40 forums for your key word. I have had success the times I’ve used this button. (The one between “help” and “profile”)
You’re right, the “Google” search bar isn’t very effective for finding answers to rules questions.
That’s the problem. I have no “search” button. This what my toolbar looks like in both Firefox and Internet Explorer:
Home Help Profile My Messages Members Chat Logout

Kamikazes
Was the activation requirement removed in 2nd Edition? (Allies must capture/recapture certain island territories)
Also, what’s the best way to find answers in these forums? There are so many topics and replies I don’t know where to look sometimes other than the obvious places like this thread. The search bar powered by google is hit or miss unless you nail the key words. I feel like a lot of people are asking the same questions over and over again. It’s like I’m trying to find Waldo in a crowd full of submarine and transport questions.

RE: AAP 1940 1st Edition Compatible with AAE 1940 2nd edition
Awesome! You rock as always with the quick responses. Do you remember when AAP 1940 1st Ed. came out? If you contacted Wizards of the Coast customer service they would mail you 6 additional Japanese Tactical Bombers and a correct battle strip. If I asked Wizards of the Coast nicely, would they send me enough AAA guns for each country to play a global game considering I paid $120 for the 1st edition games? I’d even pay S + H and pay a few dollars for the plastic.

RE: AAP 1940 1st Edition Compatible with AAE 1940 2nd edition
Hi Krieghund,
I haven’t played in a long time but I’m about to dust off the 1st Ed. boards for some global action. I came to AA.org to brush up on rules and I see that a 2nd Ed. came out. Are there any differences between the two editions besides rule changes, plastic AAA pieces, and different sculpts for some of the country specific pieces? If the maps are the same have the setups changed? If so, where can I find the new setup charts?
I found these links in the forums:
axisandallies.org/p/whats-new-in-axis-allies-pacific-1940-and-europe-1940-second-editions/
axisandallies.org/resources-downloads/setup-chart-for-axis-allies-europe-1940-second-edition/
axisandallies.org/resources-downloads/setup-chart-for-axis-allies-pacific-1940-second-edition/
(Thanks Imperious Leader)Do these links combined with the 2nd Ed. Rulebooks and FAQs tell me all I need to know or have there been changes to the changes?
I also have some rules questions but I will post them on the 2nd Ed. FAQ thread for organization’s sake.

RE: AAG40 FAQ
There is a tiny piece of Turkey that borders Greece on the other side of the straight. Does this make it possible for land units to cross from Greece into Turkey without transports if Turkey is hostile or neutral?
