I don’t know if anyone else has noticed but the website now has a basic gameplay turn sequence on it with more photos. It’s cool to see how much units cost; not in terms of money but in terms of resources, namely Oil, Steel and Other Strategic Resources (OSR). Looks like you bid Oil to see who goes first, then players move their units simultaneously… Battles ensue and you can choose either an Offensive or Defensive posturing for your units. Air battles are resolved first, then land battles. Looks like units can be retreated or withdrawn for Repair - except for attacking (or Offensive) Infantry. There’s loads to look at on there and I am personally stoked!! Â

RE: Anniversary edition reprint announced at Origins?
I may be late to the party… I wasn’t playing A&A in 2008… but if A&A 50th Anniversary Edition came out in 2008… what 50 years anniversary was it celebrating? What Axis and Allies event took place in 1958? I always thought the original A&A game (well the first appearance of it’s current format with plastic miniatures and stuff) was 1984. I guess 50th Anniversary Edition sounds better than 24th Anniversary Edition?
If it’s being reprinted this year with errata data included, maybe they should reprint it as the “Axis and Allies 33rd Anniversary Edition”.
I believe it’s 50 years of Avalon Hill’s existence… but I could be wrong.

RE: Anniversary edition reprint announced at Origins?
Excellent advice CWO Marc, thank you. I am 95% happy with original Anniversary in its OOB state; I merely hope that we find lots of juicy improvements with the reprint! In other words, I am hoping for a new edition! :)

RE: Anniversary edition reprint announced at Origins?
I still own my copy of Anniversary which I bought originally when it first came out. I would love to buy the new version if it came with significant improvements; i.e. larger map (more territories?), 6IPC Tanks, AAA units, advanced technology research, 1940 rules (except for neutrals and Mongolia rules)… what else?

RE: WAR ROOM - New Larry Harris Game
@P@nther:
That reminds me a bit of “Hearts of Iron” - condensed to a board game. Interesting!
Excellent! I’ve always wanted this :) I must admit I am getting more excited about this game by the minute…

This looks cool! I’m excited about this… and about time too. :-)

RE: I really want to buy this, but..
I won’t be buying this game until a 2nd Edition comes out, whenever that will be. I am tired of games being released that haven’t been extensively playtested, need major rule changes and are short on parts. Go, WotC! :(

RE: Rethinking Air Units
I like that idea! Strat Bombers firing 3 dice @ 1 and all hits count, it’s cool! :)

RE: Stripped down g40, how to play using a simpler ruleset
Black Elk and others; I really like these rules changes. I personally find G40 too confusing as it stands, too many different rule exceptions. And I personally hate the rules concerning Mongolia - there was just no need to make it so complicated, especially when you consider that it’s not even worth any IPCs! I think WOTC really dropped the ball here.
But anyway, I’m keen to try this new stripped down version of G40 that’s coming together here! I really like the idea of combining South Africa, Australia & New Zeleand, and Canada to form the Commonwealth playable nation. Can anyone please advise me exactly which territories would fall into this faction? So far I have it down as being:
South West Africa
Union Of South Africa
New Brunswick Novia Scotia
Newfoundland Labrador
Quebec
Ontario
Alberta Saskatchewan Manitoba
New Zealand
Victoria
New South Wales
Queensland
Northwest Territory
South Australia
Western Australia
New Guinea
New Britain
Solomon IslandsAm I missing any others? Thank you!

RE: AA50 Rules Errata and Q+A
I don’t have a copy of the old FAQ in front of me; does anyone know what the differences are this new version?

RE: Attempts to make 1941 like its predecessors?
I want to modify my 1941 with the inclusion of Artillery. Does anyone have any ideas of starting positions for such units, or is it just a case of buying them at the beginning of the game?
-
RE: FAQ Now Available
Thanks Wittmann, I must admit I did not know you could do that! :-)
-
RE: FAQ Now Available
Thanks P@nther.
Does anyone know what the differences are?

RE: Balance Issues?
Black_Elk, you make a ver sound argument and I am behid you 100%. I will be introducing Artillery to the purchase new units phase of my 1941 games from now on. Whose stupid idea was it to remove this cheap and highly useful unit from the game?!

RE: 2nd Edition Wish List
If they ever made a 2nd Edition of this game with some of the above changes I would definitely buy it as I still need this one. But the game just seems a bit of a mess to me at the moment. But if no further edition is forthcoming then I will just buy at (one day) and go with all the new rules on here.

RE: Star Wars Lives!
I believe J.J. Abrams is directing and that Mark Hamill, Harrison Foird and Carrie Fisher are all on board. But I could be wrong.

RE: Triple A Help?
I believe there is a help file associated with the program that you get when you download it; it’s either on the main screen or in the folder you saved TripleA to. That will have all the help you need.

RE: I declare this forum dead
Maybe there should be no collapses until turn 3 this would alleviate Italy bowing out so early. Same with Ottomans. It would also represent these countries after a few years of war if they are losing giving up on the effort which was historically accurate.
That’s a good idea, I like it.
