Hello. I’m translating the rulebook in french and I’d like to know if I can rely on this Errata because it’s not on the official site?

RE: landing of fighters on aircraft carriers
@andrewaagamer
Ah. I hadn’t understood that subtlety. It’s a bit like assuming that, as an attacker, I’m going to win - so, retreat isn’t an option. Thanks a lot for your help. -
landing of fighters on aircraft carriers
I don’t understand these rules on pages 26 and 27 about the landing of fighters on aircraft carriers. There seems to be a contradiction, doesn’t there?
On page 26, it says: « You cannot, however, use a planned retreat of any carrier to demonstrate a possible safe landing zone for any fighter. »
And on page 27, it says « However, it may land on a carrier in the Noncombat Move phase (even if retreating) ».Can we land on an aircraft carrier that has retreated or not?

RE: Strategic B R - an anti-aircraft gun destroys immediately or not?
@krieghund : +1: Ok, thx again for your help. Unfortunately, there are a lot of mistakes in all versions of this game. So, it’s really not easy to translate the book rules in french.

RE: Strategic B R - an anti-aircraft gun destroys immediately or not?
@krieghund
Uh… What about these rules? It seems to say that the fighter is out of the game after the AA shot, because in the other paragraph it says that the German player responds with his REMAINING fighterPage 16
First, the British player fires the AA gun. Three dice are rolled, one for each plane, resulting in a “1,” a “3,” and a “4.” The AA gun scored one hit and Germany sacrifices fighter A.Next, the British player sends up a fighter in Great Britain. A “2” is rolled – another hit. The German player responds with his remaining fighter and rolls a “3.” This would normally hit, but in a SBR, fighters only attack with a “1.” (They defend with a “2.”) The German player chooses fighter B as the casualty.

RE: Strategic B R - an anti-aircraft gun destroys immediately or not?
@krieghund
Basically, removing all the casualties allows us to have a more global view of the situation, but nothing prevents us from removing them one at a time, for battles involving very few units for example. Many thanks for your help, it is really appreciated. -
RE: Strategic B R - an anti-aircraft gun destroys immediately or not?
@krieghund
To summarize if I understood correctly, for example:
I attack an industrial complex with 1 bomber and 1 fighter.
The defender also has 1 fighter, and has an AA
The AA first draws 2 dice, one for each of my planes, and makes a hit.
I can choose my fighter as a casualty, but instead of taking it out of play as usual, I put it in the casualties
After that, I roll for my fighter and make a hit
The defender moves his fighter to the casualties.
I remove my fighter.
I then roll a die for my bomber and collect the number of CPI from the die
The defender shoots at my bomberFor ma question 2
I was a little misled by “note” because I was in a section that talked about it, but it still sounds a little like what I wanted to talk about.
My question is: why not put the casualties in the casualties area one by one right away (because in those 4 places, it still says « After ALL hits »?page 9
« After all hits (if any) are scored, the defender chooses which of his units will be casualties and moves them to the Casualties area on the battle board
After all hits are scored by the defender, the original attacker must remove that many units (original attacker’s choice) from the battle board and place them out of play.page 10
« After all hits are scored by the defender, the original attacker must remove that many of his units (attacker’s choice) from the battle board and place them out of play. »
« After all hits are scored (if any), the defender chooses which of his units are casualties and moves them to the Casualties area on the battle board. » -
Strategic B R - an anti-aircraft gun destroys immediately or not?
Rules:
Page 8 : « For each “1” that is rolled, one plane is shot down and immediately removed »
Page 15 : « A. The defending player fires his AA gun by rolling one die against each attacking aircraft (bombers and any fighter escorts). Each roll of “1” scores a hit and the number of hits is noted. »
For a Strategic Bombing Raid, f I understand correctly, an anti-aircraft gun has the same effect as an ordinary unit that sends enemy units into casualties instead of immediately removing them from the game?
I have another general question for attacks. (Should I make another post for this?)
Why does it always say that the defender should note the losses instead of sending them immediately to the casualties? When I played with my nephew, every time we shot an enemy unit, we put it in the casualty area, outside the battle board opposite his column, and the defender would then fire back with it one last time on the counterattack and that’s it.

RE: Marker on liberated territory
@andrewaagamer Ah ok, thank you very much. I haven’t really played this game yet. I started a game with my nephew, but we underestimated the time for the set up and the fact that we often have to go read the rules for this or that. We didn’t play much at all. And now I’m translating the rulebook in french and I was wondering if I should add this point to the original to make it clearer to understand. Thx.

RE: Marker on liberated territory
@andrewaagamer So, it seems to me that if the national production chart is adjusted, there’s not much point in the owner having to go back over it just to put in one of his chips to make it look better on the board after all.
-
Marker on liberated territory
In the rules, it says that when an Ally liberates another player’s territory you «Remove the German marker from the territory and adjust the original owner’s income level on the National Production Chart. » but does the original owner put a marker back on?

RE: Northwestern China is Sichuan?
@panther Thank you for the link. Unfortunately, I have finished translating the whole rulebook, but I’ll be sure to use if I ever translate the 1940 and 1942 versions. Right now, I’m going to work on the Anniversary version instead, even though I don’t own that version (nor the 1940 and 1942 versions). Thank you very much for your help.
-
RE: Northwestern China is Sichuan?
@panther “In the 1941 game there are two Chinese (US) Territories: Northwestern China (starting with 1 US infantry), and Szechwan (starting with 2 US Infantries).”
Ok. Thx for your answer. I just saw this. So, on the official website, there’s a mistake if I understand well.
-
RE: Northwestern China is Sichuan?
Sorry, I hadn’t looked at the game board (I couldn’t find Northwestern China in the booklet.)… just the online rules that I’m trying to translate . I saw in the errata link I gave that there were errors. So I looked on the official website to see if these errors were reported. I found this official page where neither Northwestern China nor Szechwan. There are only 7 places left to put troops instead of 8. Is that the case? Setup chart and a picture and a picture of both

Northwestern China is Sichuan?
I found a list that lists the errors for A&A 1941 at this address https://axisallies.com/rules/axis-allies-rules-1941-corrections-faqs.pdf
For the United States, it says that on Northwestern China, should have infantry. Is Northwestern China the same as Sichuan (because on a réal map, it’s not the same).
Whereas here on this website there is a United States location that has disappeared (No Northwestern China or Sichuan anymore)…United States
Starting income: 15 IPCs (17 IPCs on the map)
Eastern U.S.: 2 infantry, 1 tank, 1 fighter, 1 bomber
Western U.S.: 2 infantry, 1 tank
Hawaiian Islands: 1 infantry
Philippine Islands: 1 infantry
SZ 11: 1 transport
SZ 40: 1 battleship
SZ 42: 1 aircraft carrier (carrying 2 fighters), 1 submarine, 1 transport -
RE: Rockets have a firing range of 3 or 4?
@krieghund I have 2004 Version , like you or Panther said
This is the version I have in my box and I need to translate the exact same rulebook to put it on the BGG website.Thanks for the link to the latest rules. If I understand correctly, can I use these rules with my 2004 version of the game?
I will translate these rules when I have finished translating those for the Europe version and 1941

RE: Rockets have a firing range of 3 or 4?
@panther Hello.
I was sure this was the official site for the game since they managed to get the .com domain name. Normally, any company can take this name, even from another person who registered it before them, to show that it is their trade name. I guess naming a game shouldn’t be more complicated than that. That’s why with their title saying “Revised (20th Anniversary)”, I concluded that I had the very latest version of the rules. Is the best place to find the latest version of the rules on BGG?
And for the details on their site, I admit that I did not look too much, because English is not easy for me (I can normally understand it if I read a document, but it always requires an effort from me to read in English - and I have tu use Google translate to write here).
I came to question myself on this rules, because I decided to translate in French the booklets of 3 version of A&A which I have and to download them on the site of BGG, because I would like to replay them in the next few months with my nephew (I already played there more than 30 years ago and I liked it) and to have a French version of the rules to support my game.
Sorry again for not posting in the right forum. But since it said 1984-2004 in the subtitle and I had the 2004 rules, I automatically thought it was there
And, thx a lot for all! -
RE: Rockets have a firing range of 3 or 4?
@krieghund I rewrote it in the correct section.I thought that was the way to do it. I hadn’t noticed that Panther was a moderator. I’m going to delete this topic in a few hours, the time to make sure not to be rude to him, because I replied to one of his messages by putting the image of the map.
-
RE: Rockets have a firing range of 3 or 4?
@panther That’s why I’m asking, because page 33 of the 2004 guide (revised) then doesn’t say that if you look at the image and the text next to the image.

RE: Rockets have a firing range of 3 or 4?
@krieghund Yes, I understand what you are saying. Me, I relied on the official site where it speaks of a “Revised (20th Anniversary) [PDF]” (and the pdf link has the date 2014 in it) and the subtitle of this section of the forum speaks of “Released October 2008, re-released October 2017”. It was still confusing…
