      @CWO:

      @Koningstiger:

      Hmm. So apparently after 70+ views, no one else seems to have a problem with it.

      I recall that the subject was discussed at length in that other thread you mentioned, but I don’t remember what the outcome of the discussion was.  My opinion at the time was that such a scenario was completely implausible from a historical point of view, but that the game map and the game’s overall area-based movement system created a situation in which it did look plausible.

      Yeah. As i said, some other games require possession of the North German ports in order to be allowed to pass freely into and out of the Baltic; which seems more historically accurate. Guess I may try this as a houserule for AA Europe and Global '40. It of course does take away from the Allies’options…

      OK, that’s a good start. Was hoping there’d be one with the applicable icons in each column or at least the unit name. Frankly, I find it odd HBG doesn’t offer an “official” one. They basically offer anything you can think of to enhance the A&A experience, but not the elemental 12d battelboard ???

      @RoManXJ9:

      Hi all,

      Chris Williams, the sales and marketing manager from 1A Games here; we assumed production of TOI from FFG this past year.

      Yes, we are trying to fix some of the issues with the older Big Box edition; notably imbalances in the scenarios. If you have any questions, I’m here on the site now, so feel free to ask.

      Thanks!

      ps - yes, please be part of TOI’s future (I’d say more, but don’t want to offend anyone or be accused of soliciting or spamming)

      I haven’t played but own the main game and expansions. It’s been a time issue but the game looks good and can’t wait to get a session in.

      This is why my Civil War rules have the Bolsheviks controlled by Germany/CPs, and the Whites being the remaining original Russians still under Allied control.

      Lenin did everything he could to broker a treaty granting half of Russia to the Germans, then had to fight off the Allies who wanted to reopen the eastern front against Germany.

      I’m surprised people are reporting that the CPs can knock out Russia, then turn west. Why are the British not moving into Karelia and Sevastopol to retake CP conquests?

      Yeah, I loved the intent behind the NOs but in practice it just means US does KJF so they can protect their production.

      If America even helps Europe anymore it’s either sending bombers to UK or helping Russia from the Japan side.

      @UrJohn:

      I think to make a WWII game that is realistic, balanced, and fun to play and has a historical starting point you need to give it an earlier start and more vibrant political rules and victory conditions. You could start the game something like 1938 and have a buildup & influence period of a couple of rounds. Each major power should have its own victory conditions. For example, if USSR wound up conquering all of mainland Europe, that would be a total victory for the Soviet player, a total defeat for Germany and France, and a defeat for UK and USA.

      Wouldn’t you then end up with the USSR attacking Western Allied troops? Otherwise i like the idea, although I guess a 1 September 1939 start date would do fine.

      @Koningstiger:

      They could even partially represent strategic moves in an abstract way, given the scale and time-frame of each turn.

      I consider some of those factories to at least partially represent forward deployment centers. Is that what you’re getting at?

      Exactly.

      I looked it up. Yes, you are right. It only applies to major ICs, so a minor one could indeed be built in Finland.

      The best thing to do right now is use the Alpha NOs, using NOs 1 and 5 for the US.

      Bof … use AAP40 or AA50 chinamen for both sides. Since we still suffer the ACME wall  :-P, you cannot confuse them with true chinamen because chinamen cannot attack a neutral power

      Perhaps they didn’t have electric blankets…

      Or maybe they just didn’t rate the Japanese fleet as a threat.  But anyway, it’d be nice to have the option.

      Even superpowers had a limit on the military establishment it could afford to maintain.

      I don’t like the idea of adding units to a small country not at war; however I think the assignment of units to the neutrals could have been more imaginative, for example giving the likes of Brazil and Spain small navies, or Sweden some armour.  But these should be a once only build.

      Unless perhaps you’d like to give Sweden a minor complex.
