So my friends and I wanted to branch out from the WWII theme and sort of create our own version of this game. We decided on the time period of either the American Civil or Revolutionary War because we think it would be very unique and fun to play. Seeing as how we decided this about an hour ago, I was wondering if you guys had an suggestions or opinions as to what we should or shouldn’t add. We’ll of course have to create a new game board and figures and the such, so this won’t be something that happens overnight lol. I’ll keep you all posted if you’re interested. (I also posted this in House Rules because I wasn’t quite sure where it was appropriate)

What's your favorite country and why?
Just curious as to what people say. My My favorite allied country is Russia. I love going toe-to-toe with Germany as the underdog. When the rolls go your way and you can push into German occupied space, the feeling is amazing. I know I’ll lose that territory in a turn, but that means it’s at least one more turn of my survival and one more turn for Britain to strike.
As for the axis, it has to be Japan. I love wrecking the Pacific and keeping America pinned to their coast and then pushing into Russia and taking IPC by IPC with each turn. It completely ruins them and allows for Germany to easily march right into the heart of Russia.
What about you guys?

RE: Teaching People How To Play
When I first learned, I just played a game. Just dive right in. Understand how money works and attacks and go from there. Even though there is a comprehensive rule book, this game is about strategy and that’s something that you just pick up as you play.

Variations
My friends and I have pretty much exhausted this game. We’ve all played as every country. We’ve all won and lost with every country. Are there any variations of play that will breed new life into this game? I know people make house rules but I didn’t know if there was any consensus as to what is the best way. Just looking for suggestions. We’re thinking about trying new alliances next time we play and see how that works out.

RE: Is this version worth it?
I think I’m just going to wait for Europe to come out. A friend will buy the Pacific version and I’ll go with Europe then we can combine them once we master version each individually. I’m having fun with the revised version so I’ll just stick with that until I don’t enjoy it anymore lol.

Is this version worth it?
I’m sure this has been asked a lot but I was wondering if this version of the game is worth it? I mean, obviously this is the anniversary edition which makes it special, but the hefty price tag makes me think twice because I’m a college student lol. I have the revised edition and am in love with it, but I’m thinking about branching out and am curious about this game. Thanks in advance for the input!

RE: Sea Lion, Please help
I’ve just started playing this version and while I understand the concept of the Sea Lion offensive, can someone lay it out for me in A&A terms? I’ve only played as Germany once (Usually I’m Russia) and I’ve never seen this tactic initiated.
